Brand: Tapflo
Tapflo T200 PE and PTFE Air-Operated Diaphragm Pump
Description
A 1 1/2 inch plastic diaphragm pump for aggressive and abrasive liquids
The T200 is the 1 1/2 inch size of Tapflo's PE and PTFE diaphragm pump series, machined from solid polyethylene or PTFE. Polyethylene has a wear resistance that Tapflo states is six to seven times better than polypropylene, so it suits abrasive slurries as well as concentrated acids and alkalis, while PTFE is selected for the most aggressive chemicals. The T200 delivers up to 330 l/min and is driven by compressed air only.

PE or PTFE, and what the code says
Tapflo uses different grades of PE for different parts; the valve seats and ball stoppers, which wear most, are made from UHMW PE1000. The pump code starts with T, adds option letters (B backup diaphragm, D drum pump, F filter press, K built-on dampener, R rod valve, T twin inlet and outlet, X ATEX category 2, Z ATEX category 1), then the size, the wetted plastic (P PE, T PTFE), the diaphragm and the ball material. Choose PE for abrasion and general chemicals up to 70 C, and PTFE where chemical resistance or temperature up to 100 C demands it. The brochure text quotes a higher PTFE limit than the data table, so confirm the limit for your duty.
Special versions, diaphragms and ATEX
The series offers a TK version with a built-on pulsation dampener, a TT twin pump with separate chambers for blending or mixing two liquids in a fixed ratio, and TF filter press pumps for higher pressure. Pumps made from conductive (carbon-filled) PE or PTFE are marked Ex II 2G Ex h IIC T6 to T4 Gb for Zone 1 (TX) or Ex II 1G Ex h IIC T6 to T4 Ga for Zone 0 (TZ), and the conductive material prevents electrostatic charge. Installation can be flooded, self-priming or submerged.
On the T200 the diaphragms are composite parts whose smooth liquid-side surface does not let product leak through and is easy to clean. The air valve is placed between the two diaphragms, which keeps the air path short and the air consumption low, and its sealing system means no lubricator is needed on the air line. Fit the usual filter-regulator, and let the valve ball material follow the fluid.
How the Tapflo T200 works
The T200 is an air-operated double diaphragm pump. Compressed air moves a shuttle in the air valve, which pushes one diaphragm while it pulls the other. As one chamber fills, the other empties, and four ball valves direct the liquid from the suction side to the discharge. The pump needs no electric motor and no shaft seal, and it can run dry. A rotating air valve gives smooth switching and the flow rises or falls with the air supply and the discharge pressure.
Where the Tapflo T200 is used
- Transfer of acids and alkalis
- Abrasive slurries
- Chemical dosing and process feed
- Filter press feed
- Drum emptying and tank unloading
Selection checklist for the Tapflo T200
- Liquid type, concentration and temperature
- PE or PTFE wetted parts
- Diaphragm material: PTFE, EPDM, NBR or FKM
- Valve ball material
- Flange type, DIN or ANSI
- Solids size, up to 10 mm
- Suction lift needed
- ATEX version for explosive zones
Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the T200
Fix the pump on a firm base and support the pipes so their weight does not load the connections. Fit a filter and a regulator on the air line. Keep the suction pipe short and sized at least as large as the pump port. Start with the discharge valve partly open, then raise the air pressure slowly. Inspect the diaphragms and balls on a fixed schedule, because they are the wearing parts.
Requesting a quotation for the Tapflo T200
Please send the liquid, the temperature, the flow and pressure needed, the material choice and the quantity. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.
T200 capacity and pressure
The maximum flow is 330 l/min, with a recommended working flow of half that. Air and discharge pressure are both limited to 8 bar. Each stroke moves 854 ml with PTFE diaphragms.
T200 suction lift
Dry lift is 4 m. With stainless steel balls and a wet pump, lift can reach 9 m.
T200 weight and temperature
The PE pump weighs 25 kg and the PTFE pump 47 kg. The data table gives 70 degrees C for PE and 100 degrees C for PTFE.
T200 code letters
The code starts with T, then option letters such as B for a backup diaphragm, D for a drum pump, F for filter press, K for a dampener and X or Z for ATEX.
Pump records for the T200
Note the pump code, the materials fitted and the date of each diaphragm change.
Choosing the right T200 material
Choose PE for abrasion and general chemicals, and PTFE for the most aggressive liquids or higher heat.
Documents and quotation
The brochure and the IOM manual give dimensions, curves and installation rules. Please supply the fluid, concentration, temperature, solids size, flow and head, and ATEX zone if relevant. See other pumps or the Verder VA25 for comparison.

About brand
Tapflo is a Swedish family-owned manufacturer of air-operated diaphragm pumps, centrifugal pumps and process equipment, founded in 1980 in Kungälv, near Gothenburg, by Börje Johansson and Hans Emanuelsson. It started as a supplier and agency for industrial pumps on the Swedish market before designing and building its own pumps. The Tapflo Group now has its own subsidiaries in more than 25 countries.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Tapflo pumps for chemical, water treatment and process users in Oman and the GCC.
