Operating Principle

The Type 800 uses a double-eccentric disc geometry, meaning the disc’s shaft axis is offset from both the pipe centerline and the seat plane. As the valve rotates from closed to open, the disc lifts away from the seat almost immediately, eliminating the continuous rubbing contact that wears conventional concentric butterfly valve seats. This geometry allows the PTFE seat to maintain a tight, low-torque seal at the fully closed position while avoiding abrasive drag during normal cycling, extending seat life significantly compared with resilient-seated concentric designs.
