Description
Grooved-end butterfly valve with a MasterSeal elastomer seat
The Victaulic Series 761 Vic-300 MasterSeal is a grooved-end butterfly valve for isolation and throttling in building services and industrial water systems. The valve has a ductile iron body, a nickel-coated ductile iron disc and a molded elastomer seat that seals bi-directionally at full working pressure, including in dead-end service. Grooved ends are joined to the pipe with Victaulic couplings, so the valve can be installed without flanges, gaskets or welding, which saves time on chilled water, hot water, condenser water and process pipework.
Several operators are offered: a 10-position handle for 2 to 6 in. (DN50 to DN150), a lever lock handle for 8 to 12 in. (DN200 to DN300), and a gear operator for the full range. A standard ISO 5211 mounting flange, with an optional diagonal square head drive, allows electric or pneumatic actuators to be fitted.

Selection and installation notes
Select the seat for the fluid and temperature, and the operator for the size and duty. The valve is meant for carbon steel, ductile iron and plastic piping; the leaflet does not recommend it for potable water systems with stainless steel piping or copper tubing and points to the Series 461 and Series 608N valves for those. The handle types can be padlocked open or closed and have a memory stop, with tamper-resistant hardware optional. Pair the valve with grooved couplings such as the Victaulic Style 107N; more valves are listed under Fittings and Valves.

Grooved pipe joining started with Victaulic in 1919, and the company, based in Easton, USA, still sets the reference for couplings that join pipe without welding or flanges. Victaulic Style 107N QuickVic couplings
The Style 107N is a rigid coupling for roll-grooved or cut-grooved carbon steel and stainless steel pipe in sizes from 2 to 12 inches (DN 50 to DN 300). Victaulic rates it from full vacuum up to 750 psi (5171 kPa), but the working pressure of a given joint depends on pipe material, wall thickness and size. The housing has an angled bolt pad that makes the joint rigid, and a galvanized finish is optional.
