CEMB N600 Portable Vibration Analyzer and Dynamic Balancer
Overview
The CEMB N600 is a portable, dual-channel vibration analyzer and dynamic balancer built for field service engineers and predictive maintenance teams working on rotating machinery. Combining an overall-vibration vibrometer, an FFT spectrum analyzer, a run-up/coast-down analyzer, and a static-and-dynamic two-plane balancer in a single rugged handheld unit, the N600 replaces multiple dedicated instruments with one high-precision tool suited to industrial environments.
Seven Star LLC supplies the CEMB N600 as an authorized partner of CEMB, supporting rotating equipment reliability programs, maintenance workshops, and vibration analysis service providers across Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, and the wider Sultanate of Oman. Genuine CEMB instruments, accessories, and calibration support are available through Seven Star LLC for oil and gas, power generation, and heavy industrial customers throughout the GCC.
Measurement and Operating Principle
The N600 accepts two independent, simultaneous measurement channels from accelerometers, velocimeters, or non-contact probes, together with a dedicated photocell tachometer channel for speed and phase reference using a 250,000 RPM laser photocell. A 24-bit A/D converter digitizes the incoming signals, which the instrument processes to report overall vibration in acceleration (g), velocity (mm/s or inch/s), or displacement (µm or mils), expressed as RMS, peak, or peak-to-peak values across user-defined or predefined frequency bands from 3Hz to 20kHz.
For diagnostic work, the N600 performs FFT frequency analysis with selectable maximum frequency (25Hz to 15kHz) and resolution up to 3200 lines, with up to 16 averages and automatic listing of dominant peaks – identifying characteristic fault frequencies such as imbalance, misalignment, bearing defects, or gear mesh issues. For corrective work, its guided balancing routine walks the technician step by step through single- or dual-plane balancing, calculating the vectorial unbalance and recommending correction weights to add or remove, using the 1x fundamental vibration amplitude and phase measured relative to the photocell reference.
Engineering Design of the CEMB N600
The N600 is housed in a rugged, rubber-armored enclosure measuring approximately 225 x 200 x 50mm and weighing 1.4kg, designed to withstand daily handling in plant and field environments from −10°C to +50°C and up to 95% humidity without condensation. Its 7-inch color LED-backlit TFT LCD provides high-visibility readouts of waveforms, spectra, and balancing vectors even in bright industrial lighting, controlled through a tactile keypad with dedicated function keys for rapid navigation between measurement modes.
Power is supplied by a rechargeable 6Ah lithium battery offering more than eight hours of typical use per charge, with full recharge in under five hours via the included 100–240V charger. The instrument ships in a rigid carry case complete with two accelerometers, a laser photocell, cabling, an angular reference ruler, adhesive reflective tape, and a USB memory stick with documentation, providing a complete field-ready balancing and vibration diagnostic kit. Two USB ports support data transfer to CEMB’s optional N-Pro-6 professional software and Route Manager software for predictive maintenance route-based monitoring programs.

Industrial Applications
The N600 is used by rotating equipment reliability engineers and field service technicians to diagnose and correct imbalance, misalignment, and mechanical looseness on pumps, motors, fans, compressors, turbines, and gearboxes across oil and gas, power generation, cement, and heavy manufacturing facilities. Its combination of diagnostic FFT analysis and precision field balancing in a single portable instrument reduces machine downtime by allowing corrective balancing to be completed on-site without removing rotors for shop balancing.
In Oman’s industrial base, from refineries and gas processing plants to power stations and manufacturing facilities in Sohar and Salalah, Seven Star LLC supports maintenance and reliability teams specifying the CEMB N600 for both scheduled predictive maintenance rounds and urgent field balancing interventions. As an authorized CEMB partner, Seven Star LLC provides genuine instruments, accessory kits, and application support for vibration analysis programs throughout Muscat and the wider GCC.

Balancing Workflow in Detail
What separates the CEMB N600 from a simple vibration meter is how much of the balancing arithmetic it removes from the technician. The operator enters the trial weight value and its angular position independently for each correction plane, working in whichever unit the job demands – milligrams, grams, kilograms or gram-millimetres – and the instrument computes the vectorial correction from the resulting change in 1x amplitude and phase. Where the calculated correction angle falls somewhere the rotor cannot accept a weight, such as the gap between two fan blades, the weight-splitting function resolves the single theoretical correction into two equivalent weights at operator-selected angles that produce the same balancing effect. Calibration parameters, influence coefficients and measurement data are saved with the program, so a repeat job on an identical machine can be completed in a single run provided the sensors and photocell are repositioned in the same locations.
Diagnostic Tools and Programme Integration
On the analysis side, the instrument accepts accelerometers, velocimeters or proximity probes on two simultaneous channels with a maximum input of 5 V peak-to-peak, and the photocell resolves shaft speed from 30 RPM up to 250,000 RPM. Spectra can be interrogated with a harmonic cursor that highlights whole families of related frequencies – the signature of gear mesh, blade pass or bearing defect orders – while an automatic peak list reports the ten highest amplitude components, and a time-domain waveform display allows the raw signal to be inspected in the manner of an oscilloscope. Trending can be referenced either against elapsed time or against rotor speed, and the CEMB N600 carries the ISO 10816-3 evaluation zones A to D on board so that a measured velocity value can be judged against recognised severity criteria at the machine rather than back in the office. The standard kit comprises two TA18-S accelerometers with magnetic bases and tips, two 2.5 m cables, the laser photocell, angle rule, reflective tape, USB key, charger and carrying case, and CEMB’s Route Manager software turns the unit into a route-based data collector, with the ADS analysis package available in Basic, Standard and Expert levels for deeper spectral work. CEMB manufactures under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system.
