Ubiquiti UDM-Pro Dream Machine Pro 10G Cloud Gateway
Description
The Ubiquiti UDM-Pro (Dream Machine Pro) is a rack-mount 10G cloud gateway with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 processor, 4 GB of RAM, a built-in eight-port Gigabit switch, a Gigabit WAN port, 10G SFP+ LAN and WAN ports and a bay for a 3.5 inch drive. UniFi lists 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput.
It manages 100 or more UniFi devices and 1,000 or more clients, according to the tech specs page.
Gateway, controller and recorder in one 1U box
The UDM-Pro combines a router with firewall and intrusion prevention, the UniFi Network controller and, with a hard drive installed, UniFi Protect video recording. The tech specs page lists support for 24 HD, 14 2K or 8 4K cameras. Its 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS figure is measured with iPerf3 according to the datasheet footnote, and the tech specs page lists 55,000 or more signatures with CyberSecure. Failover is supported through Shadow Mode (VRRP) gateway failover.

Choosing between the UDM-Pro, UDR and UNVR
The UDM-Pro fits sites that need a rack gateway with 10G ports and a single-box camera recorder. The UDR is a smaller desktop router with built-in Wi-Fi 6. The UNVR is a dedicated four-bay recorder without routing. If both a large gateway and a large camera system are required, a UDM-Pro with a UNVR is a common pairing.
Sizing note: the tech specs describe the unit as 3.5 Gbps IPS routing, so with intrusion prevention switched on, routed traffic should be planned around that figure rather than the 10G port speed. Maximum consumption is 33 W and heat dissipation 112 BTU/hr (tech specs), a modest load for a rack.
Installation and commissioning
Rack-mount the unit, connect WAN to the ISP handoff, LAN to switches, fit a drive if recording is needed and run the UniFi setup. Retain the factory-reset button for recovery. Because 10G SFP+ ports are present, use the correct modules or direct-attach cables, which are not part of the gateway listing.
Port use: the two SFP+ ports are one LAN and one WAN port, so a fibre ISP handoff can land on the WAN SFP+ while the LAN SFP+ links to an aggregation switch.
GCC applications
Typical uses are corporate offices, hotels, schools and contractors’ site offices that need a routed edge with IPS, VLANs and basic CCTV in one rack unit. A cooled room is required because the unit is rated to 40 C.
Selection and installation notes
Plan the network device from the site layout and the load it will carry. Check the power source and the PoE budget, the port speeds and uplinks, the operating temperature range and the mounting position, keep a margin on the number of clients and cameras, and set a strong administrator password when the device is first adopted into the management system. Back up the configuration after commissioning and record the firmware version.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
