Sulzer OHV API 610 Vertical Inline Process Pump

Description

An API 610 vertical inline process pump for refinery and offshore services

The Sulzer OHV is a heavy-duty single-stage, radially split inline process pump built to API 610 / ISO 13709 for refineries, petrochemical plants, gas processing, bitumen processing and offshore platforms or FPSOs. Sulzer lists services such as produced-water and crude oil booster, propane transfer, reflux, gas oil, seawater booster, light hydrocarbon boosting, low-pressure unit charge and pump-around. The inline layout needs minimal footprint, can float with the piping to reduce thermal distortion, and can be bolted to a module frame to lower installation cost.

Variants in the OHV family

Model Description Use
OHV Enclosed impeller, interchangeable with OHH Standard inline OH3-type pump
OHVL Semi-open impeller, interchangeable with OHHL; large impeller-to-diffuser clearance for thermal tolerance Low-flow, high-head and capacity control duties
OHVc / OHVLc Close-coupled, impeller on motor shaft, API 610 OH5 compliance Compact and lighter for space-limited installs

Selection notes

Bearings are interchangeable among all four models and seals are interchangeable among OHH, OHHL, OHV and OHVL, which simplifies spares for plants running several Sulzer API pumps. Larger sizes use a dual volute to reduce radial load. Seal pots and coolers are mounted on separate stands to improve access to the seals and back pull-out assembly. State the pumped liquid, operating and design conditions, NPSH available, material code and driver so the correct size and material class can be selected. More pumps are listed under pumps.

About brand

Pressure sewer systems that discharge through narrow pipe rely on grinder pumps, and the ABS Piranha is the Sulzer answer to that duty. Sulzer has worked in pumps and fluid engineering since 1834 from Winterthur, Switzerland. Seven Star LLC lists the Sulzer ABS Piranha PIR-S21/2 submersible grinder pump and supplies Sulzer pumps and parts to utilities and contractors in Oman.

Sulzer ABS Piranha grinder pump series

The Piranha range is split into the S series, which includes the S21, and the PE series with IE3 motors. In front of the impeller sit a spiral bottom plate, a stationary cutter ring and a shredding rotor that cut cloths and plastic before they reach the hydraulics. The bottom plate is adjustable to take up wear. Versions exist for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, three-phase 400 V and single-phase 230 V supplies.

Ordering Sulzer pumps and spare parts: what we need

Send the full type designation and the serial number from the nameplate, the supply voltage, phase and frequency, the discharge size, and whether an explosion-protected version is required. For cutter or seal parts, the nameplate photo is enough for us to trace the parts list. This applies equally to GCC municipal projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which standard does the Sulzer OHV follow?
API 610 / ISO 13709; the Sulzer product page designates the OHV as an OH3 type.
What is the temperature range?
-160 to +340 C (-256 to +650 F).
What is the maximum capacity and head?
Up to 1,450 m3/h and up to 350 m, with pressures up to 51 bar.
What is the difference between OHV and OHVL?
OHV has an enclosed impeller; OHVL has a semi-open impeller and a large impeller clearance for low-flow, high-head duties.
Which seals are supported?
ISO 21049 (API 682) cartridge-type mechanical seals in an API 610 seal chamber.
