Sulzer ABS XFP Submersible Sewage Pump

Description

Submersible sewage pumps with non-clogging impellers and IE3 motors

The Sulzer ABS XFP is a range of submersible sewage pumps for municipal and industrial wastewater, equipped with Premium Efficiency (IE3 level) motors. Sulzer lists sewage containing solids and fibrous material, sewage with sludge and a high content of rags, industrial raw water and wastewater, combined sewage and storm water systems and, in the stainless-steel version, seawater. Motors are available with ATEX (Ex II 2G Ex h db IIB T4 Gb), FM and CSA approval for hazardous locations: standard for PE1 to PE3 and optional for PE4 to PE7.

Installation options and retrofit

XFP pumps can be installed in a wet well on a pedestal, transportable for temporary or bypass duty, or in a dry well in a vertical or horizontal arrangement. An adjustable bottom plate with intercepted slotting restores efficiency when it is adjusted, and Sulzer adapter brackets let an XFP replace an older pump on an existing pedestal and guide rail when the discharge size is the same.

What to confirm before ordering

Provide flow and head, liquid and solids content, installation type, frequency and voltage, hazardous-area requirements, and material (cast iron or stainless steel for seawater). The brochure gives ranges rather than model codes, so the exact XFP type is selected against the duty point. See also the ABS Piranha grinder pump and the Pumps category.

Documents and quotation

The attached Sulzer brochure (E10238, 03.2025) covers materials, motor power ranges and installation. Send the duty point and installation details for a quotation.

About brand

Pressure sewer systems that discharge through narrow pipe rely on grinder pumps, and the ABS Piranha is the Sulzer answer to that duty. Sulzer has worked in pumps and fluid engineering since 1834 from Winterthur, Switzerland. Seven Star LLC lists the Sulzer ABS Piranha PIR-S21/2 submersible grinder pump and supplies Sulzer pumps and parts to utilities and contractors in Oman.

Sulzer ABS Piranha grinder pump series

The Piranha range is split into the S series, which includes the S21, and the PE series with IE3 motors. In front of the impeller sit a spiral bottom plate, a stationary cutter ring and a shredding rotor that cut cloths and plastic before they reach the hydraulics. The bottom plate is adjustable to take up wear. Versions exist for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, three-phase 400 V and single-phase 230 V supplies.

Ordering Sulzer pumps and spare parts: what we need

Send the full type designation and the serial number from the nameplate, the supply voltage, phase and frequency, the discharge size, and whether an explosion-protected version is required. For cutter or seal parts, the nameplate photo is enough for us to trace the parts list. This applies equally to GCC municipal projects.
