SAMSON Type 3595 Cage-guided Globe Valve ANSI NPS 3/4-32
Description
SAMSON Type 3595 cage-guided globe and angle valve for oil, gas and power duty
The SAMSON Type 3595 is a cage-guided control valve in globe or angle body form, aimed at throttling and on/off service in the oil and gas industry and at high-temperature duty in power plants. The ANSI version covers NPS ¾ to 32 and Class 150 to 2500, with a temperature window of −325 to +1292 °F (−196 to +700 °C). The plug is guided by the cage over its whole stroke, and the small gap between plug and cage reduces vibration. Seven Star LLC supplies Type 3595 valves in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
The datasheet notes that the published data mainly apply up to NPS 16, with data for larger sizes or other versions available on request. A DIN version and an actuator with handwheel are also offered on request.

Selectable valve trims for the Type 3595
The Type 3595 owes its flexibility to interchangeable trim families. Each is available with a standard (STD) cage or a low-noise (LDB) cage where noted:
| Trim | Construction | Use |
|---|---|---|
| USS/STD, USS/LDB | Single-seated, unbalanced plug | Control and on/off; flashing service possible |
| BSS/STD, BSS/LDB | Single-seated, balanced plug | Low to medium pressure drop; tight shut-off |
| CAVLESS | Cage with offset boreholes | Liquids with considerable cavitation, e.g. feedwater and condensate; flashing possible |
| PILOT/STD, PILOT/LDB | Pilot plug | Tight shut-off even with low actuator thrust; NPS 4 and larger; high temperature and pressure |
| MULTICYL | Multi-stage cage | Pressure letdown over several throttling stages; gases and liquids |
| MULTISTEP | Seat with groove labyrinth | Low or medium flows with high pressure drop; up to NPS 2 |
Flow coefficients for the Type 3595
Full-size CV values for the standard USS/BSS/PILOT trims (the datasheet also lists reduced CV values for each size):
| Size | CV linear | CV equal percentage | Seat bore | Travel (USS/BSS) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NPS 2 | 54 | 40 | 1.92 in (48.88 mm) | 0.79 in (20 mm) |
| NPS 4 | 216 | 160 | 3.92 in (99.68 mm) | 1.77 in (45 mm) |
| NPS 6 | 490 | 360 | 5.84 in (148.4 mm) | 2.52 in (64 mm) |
| NPS 8 | 864 | 640 | 7.94 in (201.6 mm) | 3.35 in (85 mm) |
| NPS 12 | 1950 | 1440 | 11.88 in (301.8 mm) | 5.00 in (127 mm) |
Low-noise LDB and CAVLESS trims have lower CV values at the same size, so always size from the table that matches your trim.
How the Type 3595 works
The medium passes through the cage, and the position of the plug sets the open area of the cage windows. Throttling happens in the cage geometry, not at a single seat edge, which spreads pressure drop and allows noise and cavitation control through the cage design. The valve closes on loss of supply air with an actuator stem that extends (fail-close) or opens when the stem retracts (fail-open). Valve accessories such as positioners, limit switches and solenoid valves attach directly.
Where the Type 3595 fits and related parts
The Type 3595 is a heavier-duty, higher-class sibling to cage valves like the Type 3591 (NPS 10 to 32, Class 150 to 900 with a balanced piston). Typical related items are the Type 3271 and Type 3276 actuators, positioners and handwheels. In power plants, the valve is used on feedwater, spray water and high-temperature steam lines where a steam conditioning valve such as the Type 3286 would be the choice for combined pressure and temperature reduction.

- Body style (globe or angle), forged or cast body, material and class.
- End connection: flanged, welding ends or welding-neck ends.
- Leakage class IV, V or VI and characteristic.
- Actuator, fail-safe action, handwheel and accessories.
Installation, commissioning and maintenance
Orient the valve with the flow direction defined for the chosen trim, and support heavier bodies from the pipework. At start-up, stroke the valve and compare travel with the table value for your size. The cage-guided design is maintenance-friendly: after removing the actuator and bonnet, the cage and plug can be pulled and inspected for erosion or cavitation damage. Keep spare gaskets, packing and a plug set for critical lines.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
Gas processing, crude handling, water injection, power-station feedwater and high-temperature steam lines all use cage-guided valves of this kind. In Oman and the GCC, high ambient temperatures and humidity push users to specify protective coatings, extension of the actuator away from hot lines and clean, dry instrument air.

About brand
SAMSON is a German manufacturer of control valves, actuators, positioners and self-operated regulators. Hermann Sandvoss founded the company in Düsseldorf on 1 April 1907, and its first important product was a thermostatic valve that controlled temperature without external power. After moves to Mannheim, SAMSON settled in Frankfurt am Main in 1916, where SAMSON AG is still headquartered.
Seven Star LLC supplies Samson control valves, pneumatic actuators and positioners to process plants in Oman, including the types listed on this page and their replacement units.

Samson valve, actuator and positioner types
Samson builds a control valve from modules. The Type 3241 globe valve is the general-service body of Series 240, and the Type 3251 is the Series 250 body for higher pressure ratings. Either one is combined with a Type 3271 pneumatic diaphragm actuator or a Type 3277, whose yoke allows the positioner to be attached directly with a concealed travel linkage.
Among the positioners listed are the Type 3725 and the Type 3730 family: the 3730-1 as the basic electropneumatic version, sold in its current generation as TROVIS 3730-1, and the 3730-3 with HART communication and valve diagnostics. Samson also makes PROFIBUS PA and FOUNDATION fieldbus variants in the same family, plus self-operated pressure and temperature regulators.
Where Samson valves are used
Samson control valves throttle steam, gas and liquids in chemical and petrochemical units, refineries, gas processing, power stations, water and desalination plants, and food production. Many reach site as part of a skid or package, so the plant instrument team often meets them first when a positioner or actuator needs replacing. We supply these items to end users and contractors throughout the GCC.

Ordering Samson parts: what we need
Every Samson device has a nameplate with the type, a configuration ID (Var-ID) and a serial number. A photo of that plate is the surest route to an exact match. Without it, please send:
- Valve: type, DN or NPS, pressure rating, body and trim material, Kvs or Cv, plug and seat style, packing and bonnet type
- Actuator: type, effective area in cm², bench range, fail action and travel
- Positioner: full type code including Ex protection, communication and options such as limit switches or position transmitter
We check the code against Samson documentation and provide the manufacturer's data sheet on request.
Facts checked against SAMSON's corporate chronicle and press material, October 2026.
