OBO 5094931 V10-C 3+NPE+FS 280 Surge Arrester Type 2+3
Description
5094931 is the OBO Bettermann SurgeController V10-C 3+NPE+FS 280 V: a type 2+3 (class II+III) surge arrester in a 3+1 (three phases plus N-PE) arrangement for 230 V, 50/60 Hz networks in TN-C-S, TN-S and TT form. It is a complete unit of upper part and base, pre-mounted and ready for connection on a 35 mm DIN rail.
A compact 3+1 arrester for final distribution boards
OBO lists the V10 as a surge arrester type 2+3, suitable for TN-S and TT systems, with a thermal and dynamic cut-off unit, visual defect display, high current conductivity and labelled connections. OBO gives residential buildings and single-family homes as the application example, but the 3+NPE layout also fits small commercial and light-industrial distribution boards.
Key figures from the datasheet: maximum continuous voltage 280 V ac, nominal discharge current 10 kA (8/20) per phase and 30 kA N-PE, maximum discharge current 20 kA, total surge current 40 kA, protection level 1.1 kV or less, protection rating IP20, four division units wide, with a maximum back-up fuse of 125 A.

Selection and ordering guide
Choose the V10 when you need type 2+3 coordination with low protection level (1.1 kV or less) at the end of the installation, for sensitive electronics, and a 3+1 circuit with N-PE spark gap. For 480 V or three-phase industrial boards use the V20 family (5095314 on this site).
The product name carries “+FS” for the remote-signalling version, and the OBO description mentions a potential-free contact; however the technical-data table of the datasheet lists remote signalling as no. We omit that value; confirm the signalling contact against the datasheet or with us before ordering.
Installation and operation notes
Fit upstream a back-up fuse not larger than 125 A, mount on DIN rail and connect the N-PE module and the three phase modules with short leads. Observe the visual display for defect status.
The image shown is the V10-C family picture, so check the item number on the unit against 5094931 on delivery.
Reading the type code: V10-C 3+NPE+FS 280 breaks down as V10 (product family), C (compact), 3+NPE (three phase modules plus one N-PE module), FS (remote-signalling version according to the OBO name) and 280 (maximum continuous voltage in volts). OBO describes the unit as a complete assembly of upper part and base, pre-mounted and ready for connection, with labelled connections.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
Final distribution boards in villas, apartments, offices, retail and small industrial units, telecom cabinets and control panels where equipment sensitive to residual surges sits behind a type 1 or type 2 device.
Where a building has an external lightning protection system or overhead supply lines, add a type 1 arrester at the service entrance per your protection design.
Installation and selection notes
The V10-C 3+NPE unit is pre-mounted and is clipped onto a 35 mm DIN rail in the distribution board. Connect the three phase terminals and the N-PE terminal with short, straight conductors, and fit the upstream protection stated in the data sheet. For 230 V networks in TN-S, TN-C-S or TT form it provides combined type 2+3 protection, but the board layout and the risk assessment decide whether an additional type 1 device is needed at the service entrance.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC and any accessories such as connectors, covers, bends or fixings, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, dimensions and loads are quoted as printed on that sheet.
