Brand:

CMP E1FX Explosive Atmosphere Cable Gland for Braided Cable

Description

An explosive-atmosphere cable gland for braided and steel tape armoured cables

The CMP E1FX is an internationally approved explosive atmosphere cable gland for braided and steel tape armoured cables. It uses metal-to-metal armour clamping with a detachable armour cone and the AnyWay universal clamping ring, a displacement-type flameproof inner seal and a controlled outer load retention seal. CMP states that the design reduces the effects of cold flow, includes an overtightening prevention feature, and gives superior EMC performance. Operating temperature is -60 to +130 degC, and it is globally marked cCSAus, IECEx, ATEX and UKEX.

The grooved cone (X) in the E1FX suits wire braid, steel tape armour and aluminium strip armour, and also single wire, aluminium wire and pliable wire armour when the cable range is outside that of the stepped cone (W) gland such as the CMP PX2K.

Values are from the CMP datasheet TDS548 Rev 20 (05/25). The ordering reference is built from the size, E1FX, 1RA and a material suffix: brass needs none, nickel plated brass is 5 and copper-free aluminium is 1; NPT options add a thread code. Example: 20E1FX1RA5 is a nickel plated brass M20 gland.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm the cable construction (braid, tape or wire armour), the armour and bedding diameters against the table, the entry thread and enclosure, gas or dust group and the required certificate (ATEX, IECEx, UKEX). A stepped cone gland for wire armoured cable is the CMP PX2K, and the CMP T3CDS is a further CMP gland. More products are listed under cable accessories.

About brand

CMP Products makes cable glands and cable cleats, and little else. Founded in 1957 and based in Cramlington, United Kingdom, the company is a name that appears on hazardous-area cable schedules for oil, gas and power projects. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies CMP cable glands for explosive atmospheres to contractors in Oman, including the E1FW and the Triton T3CDS, among other glands and cable cleats listed on this page.

CMP cable glands listed here

The T3CDS Triton is a gland for armored cables with a compensating displacement seal, a design that sets the inner seal correctly across the cable diameter range, and an integral deluge seal. CMP lists it as Ex db, Ex eb, Ex nR and Ex ta, with IP66, IP67 and IP68 ratings. The E1FW is the explosive atmosphere gland for steel wire armored (SWA) and aluminum wire armored (AWA) cable.

Ordering CMP glands: what we need

A gland is sized to the cable, so send the cable type and three dimensions: inner bedding diameter, outer sheath diameter and armor wire size. Add the entry thread and size (metric or NPT), the gland material (brass, nickel-plated brass or stainless steel) and accessories such as locknut, earth tag, sealing washer and shroud. GCC project specifications usually name the certificate required.
