Murphy PowerCore MPC-20 Configurable Engine Controller
Description
Configurable controller for electronic and mechanical engines
The Murphy PowerCore MPC-20 is an all-purpose industrial controller for electronic and mechanical engines. Enovation Controls aims it at engine-driven pumps and irrigation, with the versatility to work in most engine-driven applications. It provides auto and manual start, various throttling options and a real-time clock, and the data sheet describes it as built to stand up to some of the harshest environments.
It has a large 3.8 inch display that stays readable in full sunlight, CAN J1939 communications and configuration software for setting it up on a PC. The same functionality is available in the ML2000 control panel, which Enovation Controls offers as a panel solution built around the MPC-20.

Ordering information from the product page
The Enovation Controls product page lists the controller as MPC-20-R2, stock code 40700504, with accessories such as a panel gasket for IP66 mounting (40051031), a 90 position connector kit (40700496), a 3 ft 90 position connection harness (40000554) and a hand crimp tool for the 90 position connector (40000567). The page also states a mass of 0.9 kg and a shipping weight of 1.11 kg.
Its FAQ says the MPC-20 is configured as electronic by default but can be set to mechanical engines, which then need mechanical sender units and frequency-type inputs for critical engine parameters. It runs from 12 or 24 VDC without modification, and pressure and level input ranges are selected in software, with factory defaults of 0-100 psi and 0-20 ft.
Engine applications and what to confirm
The controller can be started manually and switched to auto for automatic throttling and controlled stops, according to the product page. A key start option lets the operator start manually and use automatic throttling. If an automatic stop is active when the mode changes, the controller begins a controlled stop.
Before ordering confirm the engine type (electronic with J1939 or mechanical), supply voltage, sensors and their signals, number of relay outputs needed, whether the panel version is wanted and the mating connector kit and harness. The product is a configurable controller, so the functions depend on the setup loaded into it. The data sheet carries a California Proposition 65 warning.

About brand
Murphy is an American brand of engine and equipment protection controls that began in 1939 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Founder Frank W. (Pat) Murphy combined an indicating gauge with a switch that stops an engine on low oil pressure or high coolant temperature, first installed on unattended oilfield engines. That SWICHGAGE remains the brand's best-known product.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list selected Murphy gauges, switches and controllers for engines, generator sets, pumps and compressors in Oman and the GCC.
Murphy company profile
| Founded | 1939, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, by Frank W. (Pat) Murphy |
|---|---|
| First product | The SWICHGAGE, a gauge with a built-in shutdown switch |
| Original market | Unattended engines in oilfields |
| Product families | SWICHGAGE gauges and switches, TATTLETALE annunciators, PowerView displays, engine and compressor control panels, liquid level switches and vibration switches |
Milestones
- 1939: Pat Murphy develops the Murphy safety switch and starts FW Murphy in Tulsa.
- Today: SWICHGAGE gauges are still among Murphy's best-selling products.
Murphy product series
The classic range includes the 20P and 25P pressure Swichgage and the 20T and 25T temperature Swichgage, gauges with built-in switch contacts for alarm and shutdown, B-Series Murphygage gauges, the L150 and EL150K1 level Swichgage, ESPS-100 and ESTS senders and switches, Tattletale annunciators and magnetic switches, the VS2 shock and vibration switch, the MP3298 magnetic pickup and exhaust pyrometers for diesel engines.
Newer products include the PowerCore MPC-20 configurable engine controller and the PowerView 780B 7-inch display with CAN J1939 communication, and the Sentinel 300P battery charger keeps starting batteries charged.
Where Murphy products are used
Gas compressor packages, engine-driven pumps and fire pumps, generator sets, irrigation and dewatering pumps and mobile equipment, where the instruments protect the engine against low oil pressure, high temperature, overspeed and vibration.

FAQ
Questions about the Murphy PowerCore MPC-20 Configurable Engine
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01What engines can the MPC-20 control?
Electronic engines and older mechanical engines without an ECU. It is configured as electronic by default and mechanical can be selected.
02What supply voltage does it use?
8 to 32 VDC with reverse polarity and load dump protection, so it works on 12 V or 24 V systems.
03What communication does it have?
One CAN 2.0B port at 250 kbps with J1939, RS-485 Modbus RTU and a USB port for programming.
04What is its protection rating?
IP67 for the complete controller and IP66 when panel mounted with the gasket in a metal plate of at least 14 gauge.
05Is there a panel version?
Yes. Enovation Controls offers the ML2000 control panel, which incorporates the functionality of the MPC-20.
