MikroTik LtAP LTE6 kit 4G Weatherproof Router

Description

A weatherproof 4G access point with three SIM slots

The LtAP LTE6 kit, order code RBLtAP-2HnD&R11e-LTE6, is a compact 4G (LTE) wireless access point in a rugged case with three SIM card slots. MikroTik says it suits both busy urban environments and off-the-grid outdoor networking, and its built-in Cat6 modem delivers up to 300 Mbps download.

Inside are a 2.4 GHz access point module (AP, station, bridge and point-to-point modes), a Gigabit Ethernet port, a GPS module with an external SMA connector, an RS232 serial port, a USB 2.0 port and two miniPCIe slots, one of which carries the LTE modem.

Performance data on the MikroTik page (MT7621A (880Mhz) 1G one port test), RFC2544 testing on Xena equipment:

Test Rules Mbps at 1518 B Mbps at 512 B Mbps at 64 B
Bridging none (fast path) 984.9 955.6 367.6
Routing none (fast path) 984.9 955.6 440.1
Routing 25 ip filter rules 859.8 305.6 37.6

Reading the numbers: the one-port test shows 984.9 Mbps in the fast path at 1518 bytes, but the useful limit of this device is the cellular and 2.4 GHz wireless side: LTE Category 6 offers 300 Mbit/s downlink and 50 Mbit/s uplink in the best case, and the 2.4 GHz 2×2 radio is a 300 Mbit/s class link. Real speeds depend on carrier, band and signal. Power draw is 12 W idle and 24 W maximum, so on a vehicle battery or solar site the full range of 12 to 30 V DC, passive PoE and automotive inputs allows several supply options.

Cellular modem, GPS and expansion

  • LTE Category 6: 300 Mbit/s downlink and 50 Mbit/s uplink with carrier aggregation across multiple bands.
  • Three SIM slots (Mini SIM) and two miniPCIe slots, one free for expansion.
  • 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n access point with 2 chains and onboard antennas, MMCX connectors for external antennas.
  • Powering by DC jack (12-30 V), passive PoE (12-30 V) or automotive input (12-27 V); consumption 12 W idle and 24 W maximum.
  • IP54 rating, tested ambient -30 to 70 degrees C, GPS, RS232 and USB.

Order code and accessories

The kit code is RBLtAP-2HnD&R11e-LTE6: it combines the LtAP board (2HnD wireless) with an R11e-LTE6 modem. The package includes a K-67 fastening set, a DC cable, a 24 V 1.2 A power supply and thermal pads. Check the LTE bands against the target carriers before choosing the model, because the supported bands are fixed by the modem. SIM cards are not supplied.

Mounting, powering and first setup

Remove the two screws on the port cover, insert the SIM in slot 2 (middle), mount the unit on a wall with the four supplied screws and direct cable openings downward when mounting outdoors. Set your PC to DHCP, join the wireless network starting with MikroTik, then open 192.168.88.1; no password is set by default. The manual recommends updating RouterOS and selecting the country to apply regulation settings.

Vehicles, remote sites and failover links

Use it on vehicles, site cabins, pumping stations and temporary offices where there is no fixed line, or as a cellular backup path next to a wired link. The three SIM slots allow carrier redundancy; GPS gives location data. Confirm local approval of 4G equipment and the available bands in the country of use.

Information to send with an RFQ for the MikroTik LtAP LTE6 kit 4G Weatherproof Router

Wireless equipment is quoted per site and per coverage area. For the MikroTik LtAP LTE6 kit 4G Weatherproof Router, describe the space to be covered, the number of concurrent users or devices, and the building type, since concrete walls and metal structures reduce range. Note any outdoor areas, yards or warehouses that also need coverage.

  • Number of units, and whether a controller or cloud management is already in place.
  • Power source: PoE switch, PoE injector or local adapter, with the PoE standard required.
  • Mounting: ceiling, wall or pole, and any weather protection for outdoor use.
  • Licensing or SIM requirements for LTE models, and the operator band to be used.

A floor plan with the proposed positions lets coverage be estimated before the equipment is ordered.

About brand

MikroTik is a Latvian maker of networking hardware and software, founded on 14 March 1996 in Riga by John Tully and Arnis Riekstiņš to develop routers and wireless ISP systems. In 1997 it created the RouterOS operating system for standard PC hardware, and in 2002 it began making its own hardware under the RouterBOARD brand. MikroTik is still privately owned by its two founders.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list MikroTik devices, each with the manufacturer datasheet, for ISPs, IT contractors and site networks in Oman and the GCC.
