MikroTik hEX RB750Gr3 5-Port Gigabit Router
Description
The five-port gigabit router for sites without Wi-Fi
The RB750Gr3, sold as hEX, is a five-port gigabit Ethernet router for locations where wireless is not required. It has a USB port, a microSD slot and a small 113 x 89 x 28 mm body that works on a desk, wall or inside a cabinet.
Revision 3 uses an MT7621A dual-core CPU at 880 MHz with 4 threads, 256 MB RAM and IPsec hardware encryption. MikroTik states that the microSD slot supports the Dude server package and gives better read and write speed for database storage on the card than the older revision.

Measured by the manufacturer (MT7621A (880Mhz) 1G all port test), RFC2544 method, Xena test gear:
| Test | Rules | Mbps at 1518 B | Mbps at 512 B | Mbps at 64 B |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bridging | none (fast path) | 1764 | 1830.1 | 358.3 |
| Routing | none (fast path) | 1802.2 | 1843.6 | 327.1 |
| Routing | 25 ip filter rules | 766.4 | 265.2 | 35 |
Reading the numbers: the test table shows bridging and routing in the fast path near 1.8 Gbps at 1518 and 512 bytes, enough to fill a gigabit link in each direction, while 25 IP filter rules cut the 1518-byte result to 766.4 Mbps. The datasheet comparison with revision 2 shows 1972 Mbps bridging against 986 Mbps, and IPsec hardware acceleration was added in revision 3. Treat these as laboratory maxima: a busy firewall with queues will run below them, and the power draw of 5 W idle and 10 W maximum leaves ample room for PoE-in operation.
What changed in revision 3
- Five 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, one full-size USB type A port (1 A, with power reset) and a microSD slot.
- MT7621A at 880 MHz with 2 cores, 4 threads and 256 MB RAM.
- Powering by DC jack 8-30 V or passive PoE-in on port 1 within the same 8-30 V range.
- Consumption of 5 W without attachments and 10 W at maximum; passive cooling.
- Datasheet comparison with revision 2: bridging 1972 Mbps at 1518 bytes against 986 Mbps for the previous revision.
Ordering notes for the RB750Gr3
The model code is RB750Gr3; the name hEX is the product family name on the datasheet, and the page covers revision 3 only. Order it where a wired router is enough. If you need Wi-Fi, look at the access point models instead, and if you need PoE output or an SFP port, the RB4011 or a CRS switch is the better fit. The datasheet does not list the package contents, so confirm the power adapter with the quotation.
Powering and first login
Connect a PC to an Ethernet port, open 192.168.88.1 in a browser or WinBox, and log in as admin without a password. MikroTik recommends updating RouterOS and setting a password at once. Use the DC jack or PoE-in only within 8-30 V, and keep the unit in an indoor location; the datasheet gives no ingress rating beyond the page listing.
Cabins, kiosks and small branch routing
The device is a low-cost option for site cabins, security and CCTV sub-networks, retail branches and as a VPN or firewall unit behind an ISP modem. Its passive cooling and small power draw are useful in racks with limited airflow. With its 880 MHz CPU it is not a substitute for a core router in busy networks.
Information to send with an RFQ for the MikroTik hEX RB750Gr3 5-Port Gigabit Router
Network hardware is easier to quote correctly when the application is clear. For the MikroTik hEX RB750Gr3 5-Port Gigabit Router, tell us how many sites or users it will serve, the WAN connections at each site (fibre, DSL, LTE or microwave) and the throughput you expect with firewall and VPN rules active, because encrypted throughput is usually well below the headline routing figure.
- Quantity, and whether spare units are needed for critical sites.
- Power arrangement: included adapter, PoE input or DC supply from a site battery.
- Optics: the SFP or SFP+ modules and fibre type, single-mode or multimode, if fibre ports will be used.
- Mounting: desk, wall, DIN rail, pole or 19-inch rack, and any enclosure needed outdoors.
If the device is replacing existing equipment, the current configuration or a short description of the network layout helps confirm that the replacement supports the same features.
