Brand:

MikroTik RB4011iGS+RM 10-Port Rack-Mount Router

Description

Ten gigabit ports and a 10G SFP+ cage in a 1U case

The RB4011iGS+RM is the rack-mount Ethernet model of the RB4011 series: ten gigabit Ethernet ports, one SFP+ cage for 10 Gbps optical or DAC links, and IPsec hardware acceleration. MikroTik says the series is built on a quad-core Cortex A15 CPU, the same type used in its carrier-grade RB1100AHx4 unit.

The board carries an AL21400 quad-core ARM 32-bit CPU, 1 GB RAM and 512 MB NAND, with RouterOS v7. Port 10 can output passive PoE, and the case is solid metal in matte black. Two rack ears fasten it in a standard 1U rack space.

MikroTik test data (AL21400 1G/S+ all port test), taken with RFC2544 and Xena equipment, throughput at 0.1% loss:

Test Rules Mbps at 1518 B Mbps at 512 B Mbps at 64 B
Bridging none (fast path) 9,792.9 9,473.6 2,821.0
Routing none (fast path) 9,792.9 7,877.8 2,607.3
Routing 25 ip filter rules 7,209.9 2,560.8 289.1

Reading the numbers: with 9,792.9 Mbps in the fast path at 1518 bytes the router can carry a full 10G link through the SFP+ cage, and 7,209.9 Mbps remain with 25 IP filter rules at that size. At 64 bytes the filtered figure drops to 289.1 Mbps, which is the number to use when sizing for traffic with many small packets, such as voice or telemetry. The IPsec table on the product page shows the benefit of hardware acceleration, and the tested ambient range of -40 to 70 degrees C is wider than most rack-mount routers in its class.

CPU, memory and port details

  • Ten 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports with an RTL8367SB switch chip and one SFP+ cage (module not included).
  • Quad-core AL21400 CPU, 1 GB RAM, 512 MB NAND, RouterOS v7.
  • Ether10 supplies passive PoE up to 57 V; PoE-in accepts 18-57 V and the DC jack 12-57 V.
  • Consumption 18 W without attachments and 33 W maximum; passive cooling.
  • IPsec hardware acceleration; the datasheet table lists throughput by tunnel count.

Choosing the RB4011iGS+RM

The code RB4011iGS+RM breaks down as iGS = Ethernet plus SFP+, with RM for the rack-mount variant. A desktop version without rack ears exists as a separate model, so confirm the RM suffix when ordering. SFP+ modules are not included. Use the throughput table from the product page to estimate headroom for firewall, queue and IPsec workloads, not the line rate.

Mounting and power connections

Fix the supplied ears to the case and mount it in a 1U space. Power can come from the DC jack (12-57 V) or PoE-in on the first port (18-57 V); PoE-out from port 10 uses passive PoE up to 57 V and is current-limited, so confirm the load before connecting a camera or access point. First login follows the usual MikroTik routine: 192.168.88.1, admin user, empty password until you set one. The tested ambient range is -40 to 70 degrees C and the page lists IP20 protection.

Where the RB4011 is used

The router suits a small data room, a site office gateway with a fibre uplink, and multi-VLAN setups that need ten wired ports without an extra switch. Its passive cooling avoids filters and fans, which helps in dusty plant rooms, but the case is IP20, so keep it inside a cabinet.

Information to send with an RFQ for the MikroTik RB4011iGS+RM 10-Port Rack-Mount Router

Network hardware is easier to quote correctly when the application is clear. For the MikroTik RB4011iGS+RM 10-Port Rack-Mount Router, tell us how many sites or users it will serve, the WAN connections at each site (fibre, DSL, LTE or microwave) and the throughput you expect with firewall and VPN rules active, because encrypted throughput is usually well below the headline routing figure.

  • Quantity, and whether spare units are needed for critical sites.
  • Power arrangement: included adapter, PoE input or DC supply from a site battery.
  • Optics: the SFP or SFP+ modules and fibre type, single-mode or multimode, if fibre ports will be used.
  • Mounting: desk, wall, DIN rail, pole or 19-inch rack, and any enclosure needed outdoors.

If the device is replacing existing equipment, the current configuration or a short description of the network layout helps confirm that the replacement supports the same features.
