HIWIN HGH-CA Heavy Load Linear Guideway Block and Rail
Description
The HIWIN HGH-CA is the square, heavy load block of the HG series, HIWIN’s four-row ball linear guideway for machine tools and automation. The block runs on a matching HGR rail and carries equal loads in the radial, reverse radial and lateral directions, which is why HG guideways are a common choice for machining centres, grinders, gantry axes and transport equipment that need rigidity and a long service life.
A heavy load ball guideway built for rigidity
HIWIN designed the HG series with a circular-arc raceway so that the balls contact the groove at 45 degrees over a wide contact width. The catalog describes three results: self-aligning behaviour that absorbs installation error from surface irregularity, high rigidity in all four load directions, and a retainer that keeps the balls in the block when it is lifted off the rail. Interchangeable blocks and rails can be exchanged freely within a size.
The flange HGW versions have a lower assembled height and a wider mounting face and suit heavy moment loading, while HGL is a lower square block whose assembled height matches the flange type of the same size.

Ordering code, preload and selection
A non-interchangeable HG model number reads in this order: series, block type, size, load type, block mounting, number of blocks per rail, rail mounting, rail length, accuracy, preload, number of rails per axis and dust protection. In the catalog example HGW25CAE2R1600EZAPMII+DD/E2+RC, ZA is the preload, P the accuracy, II a matched pair of rails and DD double seals with bottom seal.
HIWIN lists ZA preload for machining centres, EDM and measuring equipment, Z0 for transport devices and welding machines, and ZB where high rigidity under vibration and impact is needed; for sizes below HG20 the catalog recommends preload no larger than ZA. The catalog asks for the grease to be checked every 100 km or every 3 to 6 months.

What does the HGH-CA designation mean?
HG is the series, H is the square block type, and CA is the heavy load type with mounting from the top. The two digits after H, such as 25, give the size, so HGH25CA is a size 25 square heavy load block.
What is the difference between the C and H load types?
C is the heavy load type and H is the super heavy load type. The H block is longer and carries a higher rating, for example HGH25CA has C 34.9 kN and HGH25HA has C 42.2 kN. The H type starts at size 20.
Which preload classes are available for HG guideways?
HIWIN offers Z0 (0 to 0.02C), ZA (0.05C to 0.07C) and ZB (0.10C to 0.12C). Interchangeable blocks and rails are available in Z0 and ZA, while non-interchangeable sets can also be ordered in ZB.
How long can an HG rail be?
