Alicat PCD-100PSIG Dual-Valve Pressure Controller 100 PSIG

The Alicat PCD-100PSIG is a PCD-Series dual-valve pressure controller with a 100 PSI gauge full scale. With dual PCV valves the sheet lists a body of 4.800 x 1.050 x 4.083 inches, 1/8 inch NPT ports and a weight of about 1.6 lb (0.7 kg).

Two valves, so pressure goes up and down under control

A single-valve controller can add gas to a volume but depends on a leak or a vent to lower it. The PCD adds a second, exhaust-side valve, so both fill and bleed are controlled, which gives tighter setpoint tracking for closed volumes such as test chambers and vessels.

Performance matches the PC-Series: accuracy 0.25 % of full scale (0.125 % optional), repeatability 0.08 % of full scale, a 10,000:1 steady-state control range and a response as fast as 30 ms, depending on volume and valve size. Both valves are normally closed.

Choose the dual-valve PCD when the controlled volume must be vented actively, for example during rapid down-ramps; use the single-valve PC-Series when a vent or flow path already exists. PCDA (larger valve) and PCPD sizes extend the capacity, and PCDS uses 316L and FFKM wetted parts for corrosive media.

State the supply and exhaust pressures, volume to be controlled and gas when asking for a quotation.

Because the dual-valve body is longer than the single-valve PC body at 4.800 inches against 3.59 inches, check the available panel length. The weight rises from about 1.2 lb to 1.6 lb. In return you gain a controlled exhaust path, which is useful when the downstream volume has no natural leak and the setpoint is stepped down often. The control range and response figures on the sheet are common to both ranges, and both valves are normally closed, so the volume stays contained when power is removed. Ask for the valve size that matches your fill and vent flows, since the PCV, PCA and P valve families named on the sheet differ in capacity and port size.

Installation and operation notes

The Alicat PCD manual places the controller between a regulated supply and an exhaust path, with a suggested filter of about 20 microns on the supply side. The exhaust port should discharge to atmosphere or a suitable vent line without restriction.

PCD valves have no orientation sensitivity; PCRD Rolamite valves must be mounted upright. Tare at atmospheric pressure before starting.
