ABB Endura AZ40 Oxygen and Carbon Monoxide Analyzer
Overview
The ABB Endura AZ40 is a close-coupled combustion analyzer that measures oxygen (O2) and carbon monoxide equivalent (COe) in a single system, giving operators the information needed to optimize combustion efficiency, detect burner malfunctions and improve plant safety. The close-coupled sample system keeps the sample at stable temperature and pressure for repeatable readings, with an integral flame arrestor that prevents flash-back if combustible levels exceed the lower explosive limit during startup, shutdown or process disturbance.
Engineering and Design
The AZ40 measures O2 with a response time to 63% of span of less than 3.5 seconds and COe in less than 13 seconds, with a COe range up to 20,000 ppm. Display accuracy is +/-2.5% of reading or +/-0.5% O2 for oxygen, and +/-20 ppm or +/-2% of selected span for COe up to 999 ppm. The sample path is maintained at high temperature to prevent acid-gas condensation and corrosion, and the system handles process temperatures from a minimum of 260 C (500 F) to a maximum of 1,649 C (3,000 F).
The analyzer supports thermocouple temperature input types B, E, J, K, N, R, S and T, and provides six normally-closed relay outputs plus two internal solenoid valves for AutoCal. Probe connections include RS485 communication and 115/230 V AC power, while the transmitter is rated IP66 / NEMA 4X with the probe rated IP55 / NEMA 4. Configuration, trending and firmware updates are handled through the onboard SD card
