Centrifugal Pumps

Centrifugal pumps move liquid with a rotating impeller and are the standard choice for water, HVAC, process and utility service. Types of centrifugal pump in this category

End-suction pumps such as the Grundfos NB and Bell & Gossett e-1510 handle general water and HVAC duty, and inline pumps like the Sulzer SIL save space in pipework. Vertical multistage pumps (Grundfos CR, Lowara e-SV, Pedrollo HT) give high head for boosting and boiler feed, and pressure booster sets like the DAB Esybox serve buildings. For process duty there are ANSI and API 610 pumps such as the Flowserve Durco Mark 3 and BB5 barrel pumps, magnetic drive sealless pumps like the KSB Magnochem and Debem KM, and hygienic and vertical immersed pumps from Tapflo and Debem.

How to select a centrifugal pump

Define flow rate and total head at the duty point, then the fluid, temperature, viscosity and solids content. Check NPSH available against the pump NPSH required, and choose materials, seal type or a sealless design for the fluid. Specify motor power, voltage, frequency and hazardous area rating, and any standard such as API 610 or ISO 5199.
