Close-coupled centrifugal pump for domestic, civil and light commercial water duties

The Pedrollo CP is a single-stage close-coupled centrifugal pump for clean water and for liquids that will not damage the pump components. Pedrollo lists it for domestic and civil use: distributing water with small to medium pressure tanks, transferring fluids and watering orchards and gardens. The 50 Hz datasheet covers nine models from the CP 100 (0.25 kW) to the CP 200 (2.2 kW), with flow up to 160 l/min (9.6 m3/h) and head up to 56 m.

Each model is offered in a single-phase version (CPm, 230 V, 50 Hz) and a three-phase version (CP, 230/400 V, 50 Hz). The stainless steel AISI 304 impeller carries a ten-year guarantee according to the datasheet, and the CPm 158 is covered by a registered trademark and a registered community model, which Pedrollo notes on the datasheet.

Head values are the first point of the published performance table at the lowest listed flow; the pump delivers progressively less head as flow rises, so confirm the duty point on the curve. Weights are for the three-phase version; the single-phase CPm is slightly heavier on the larger sizes. A CP 170M variant is also listed with a flatter curve.

Selection and installation notes

Specify a CP where the liquid is clean and the head is modest. For solids in suspension or untreated surface water an open-impeller design with wider passages is more appropriate than a closed-impeller pump such as this one; the pumps category lists alternatives. Keep suction lift within the 7 m manometric limit and short, with the suction line rising continuously to the pump to avoid air pockets, and protect the motor with an overload device sized to the nameplate current. The datasheet gives absorbed current for each model, for example 1.9 A for the CPm 100 and 13.0 A for the CPm 200 on single-phase supply.

How the Pedrollo CP works

The motor shaft carries the impeller directly, so the pump and motor form one compact unit. Water enters at the centre of the impeller and is thrown outward, which raises its pressure. The liquid leaves through the delivery port into the pipe.
