Dwyer Series 616W Weatherproof DP Transmitter
Description
Series 616W weatherproof differential pressure transmitter
The Dwyer Series 616W puts a differential pressure transmitter for air and non-combustible gases into a polycarbonate NEMA 4X (IP66) enclosure with a local LCD. It measures positive, negative and differential pressure with ±0.25 % full-scale accuracy and sends a 4-20 mA signal in a two-wire loop, with 0-5 V or 0-10 V in 3-wire versions.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Series 616W in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat. The weatherproof housing is the distinguishing feature: it allows outdoor monitoring and installation where dust or particulate matter is present.
Series 616W model codes
Models are written 616W-3-LCD, where the number is the range and LCD shows that the display is fitted. The chart lists 616W-2-LCD (0 to 6 in w.c., 4.5 psig maximum), 616W-3-LCD (0 to 10 in w.c.), 616W-4-LCD (0 to 20 in w.c., 6 psig), 616W-5-LCD (0 to 40 in w.c., 25 psig), 616W-6-LCD (0 to 100 in w.c., 25 psig) and 616W-20B-LCD (0 to ±10 in w.c.). A metric model carries an M, such as 616W-3M-LCD with 0 to 2.5 kPa.
The suffix -NIST adds a NIST traceable calibration certificate. The datasheet also covers the 616WL, a very-low-range variant with spans down to 0.25 in w.c.; the information on this page refers to the 616W.

How the Series 616W is used
The 616W senses pressure difference of air and compatible gases and sends a standard signal to a controller. Its design allows 2-wire current-loop operation. The span and zero controls are intended for checking calibration only; they are not meant for re-ranging to a significantly different span, so the range code ordered must match the application.
The LCD gives immediate local indication, which helps maintenance staff to see a filter or duct condition without a laptop or a meter. The housing has four mounting holes and a gasketed cover, and the terminal block is removable for easy wiring.
Pressure limits depend on the range: 4.5 psig for the lowest ranges, 6 psig for 0 to 20 in w.c. and 25 psig for the higher ranges, according to the chart.
Series 616W against indoor 616 models
Compared with the Series 616KX (NEMA 1, no display option) and Series 616D (DIN rail, no display), the 616W costs more but is installed outside or in dusty plant areas without an additional enclosure. For liquid-filled or high-pressure duties, use a different family.
It can be combined with an isolated 24 V DC supply in a plant control panel and with a loop-powered input in a PLC.
Selection and ordering checklist for the Series 616W
- Range code, metric or imperial
- Output signal and wiring (2-wire or 3-wire)
- LCD requirement (all chart models include it)
- Tubing and cable entries
- Calibration certificate (NIST)
- Exposure: outdoor sunlight and temperature limit of 70 °C
Installation notes for the Series 616W
Mount the enclosure on a wall or panel in any orientation, connect the tubing to the high and low ports with the dual-size barbs, and wire the terminals. Protect tubing from condensation and keep sensing taps away from turbulent flow areas.
Use the zero control with both ports open to check calibration. If a unit has been exposed to overpressure beyond the chart maximum, verify its zero and span before relying on it.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
Dust collection systems, outdoor HVAC equipment and roof-top units are the applications listed by the maker. In Oman, where dust and sand are common and temperatures high, the sealed housing and local display make this transmitter suitable for filter differential pressure on air intake systems, subject to the 70 °C temperature limit.

Site conditions in Oman for the Series 616W
Field instruments in Oman are exposed to strong sun, high ambient temperature, wind-blown dust and, on coastal plants, salt in the air. When you specify the Series 616W, check the ambient and process temperature limits, the enclosure rating and the wetted and housing materials against the actual installation point, and consider sunshades for transmitters mounted in direct sunlight. Cable entries should be sealed with suitable glands so that dust and moisture cannot enter the housing.
Calibration and verification planning matters as much as selection. Record the range, configuration and tag data of each Series 616W at commissioning, define a check interval that suits the criticality of the loop, and keep the certificates with the plant documentation so that audits and shutdown work can proceed without delay.

About brand
Dwyer Instruments is an American maker of pressure, flow, level and temperature instruments, founded in Chicago in 1931 as F.W. Dwyer Manufacturing Company to make liquid-filled manometers. It later moved to Michigan City, Indiana, and became known for the Magnehelic differential pressure gauge. Dwyer bought OMEGA Engineering in 2022, and the combined business trades as DwyerOmega.
Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Dwyer instruments for projects and plant maintenance in Oman and the GCC, and checks each order code against the manufacturer's documentation.

Dwyer product families on this page
Four Dwyer lines are listed. The Magnehelic 2000 is a diaphragm-type differential pressure gauge for air and compatible non-combustible gases. The Photohelic 3000MR and 3000MRS combine the gauge with switching, with relay (MR) or solid-state (MRS) outputs. The Series MSX Magnesense is a differential pressure transmitter for building and HVAC air systems. The Flotect V6 is a flow switch; the listed V6EPS-S-S-4-S version is SPDT, in stainless steel, for 1-1/4 inch lines.

Ordering Dwyer instruments: what we need
Send the full model number from the dial or label, because the range is part of it: a 2000-series Magnehelic number changes with the scale and the units. For Photohelic units add the supply voltage and output type. For Dwyer pressure transmitters state range, output signal and display option. For flow switches give line size, medium, wetted material and enclosure type. Recent paperwork may carry the DwyerOmega name; the model numbers stay the reference.
Facts checked against DwyerOmega's Dwyer brand page and HVAC Today, October 2026.
