Samson 3347 Hygienic Angle Control Valve DN 6-150
Description
Samson 3347 hygienic angle valve for food, beverage and pharma lines
The Samson 3347 is a hygienic angle control valve covering DN 6 to 150 (NPS ¼ to 6) with a maximum pressure of 63 bar (914 psi) and medium temperatures from –10 to +150 °C, according to datasheet T 8097. It is made for food, beverage and pharmaceutical processes where product must not collect in dead cavities, and where the line is regularly cleaned in place (CIP) and sterilized in place (SIP).
A quick-release clamp holds the bonnet to the body, so the entire bonnet and plug assembly can be removed for inspection, while bolted-bonnet versions are available above 16 bar. Seven Star LLC supplies the Samson 3347 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
3347 body versions and plug stem seals
| Body version | Nominal size | Bonnet connection | Max. pressure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Micro-flow | DN 6 to 25 (NPS ¼ to 1) | Bolted bonnet | 16 bar (232 psi) |
| Cast body | DN 15 to 100 (NPS ½ to 4) | Clamp connection | 16 bar (232 psi) |
| Bar stock | DN 15 to 150 (NPS ½ to 6) | Clamp connection | 16 bar (232 psi) |
| Bar stock, high pressure | DN 15 to 150 (NPS ½ to 6) | Bolted bonnet | 63 bar (914 psi); 300 bar version on request |
Three stem sealing systems are offered: a PTFE seal for most standard duties, a PEEK-guided version with a metal centering ring that adds guidance for the plug, and an anti-crystallizing system with a hardened stem and EPDM for media that dry into crystals. A steam barrier can be added where the stem must be sterilized with steam or sterile fluid.

How the 3347 is built for cleanability
The body has no dead cavities, wetted seals meet FDA and EU food-contact rules, and the plug and seat can be supplied with a metal or soft seal. The internal finish of Ra 0.8 µm or better prevents buildup of film. Standard mounting is upright with the actuator on top, though other positions are possible when the pipeline need not drain completely. Because the bonnet clamp opens quickly, plant staff can service the plug and stem seal without removing the body from the line.
Where the 3347 fits and related Samson parts
Within the hygienic range, the 3347 is the larger, higher-pressure valve with the clamp bonnet, while the 3349 uses a PTFE diaphragm for aseptic duty and the 3510 handles micro flows. Accessories such as positioners, solenoid valves and limit switches mount in accordance with DIN EN 60534-6-1 and NAMUR recommendations; a Type 3347 with a Type 3379 piston actuator and a Type 3724 positioner forms a compact automated unit. For 3-A conformity the actuator and accessories must be of the approved modified types.
3347 selection and ordering checklist
- Medium, viscosity, solids content, temperature and pressure, including cleaning and steam cycles.
- Kvs from sizing, nominal size, and cast, bar stock or micro-flow body.
- End connections: welding ends, clamps, threaded couplings or flanges, with the standard used on site.
- Stem seal system (PTFE, PEEK or anti-crystallizing), steam barrier need and plug type.
- Required certificates (FDA, EHEDG, 3-A) and the actuator, fail-safe direction and positioner.
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the 3347
Mount the valve upright where possible and follow the flow arrow, since the process medium flows in the flow-to-open direction. Check the clamp tightness and the seal condition after commissioning. For SIP cycles, keep to the limits in the datasheet, as certain connection types and seal materials lower the permissible pressure and temperature.
For maintenance, plan an interval for replacing stem seals and gaskets and keep lot certificates. When fail-safe springs are fitted, the supply pressure required to hold the valve against differential pressure should be checked in the actuator tables.
Typical applications of the 3347 in Oman and the GCC
The 3347 serves dairy and juice plants, soft-drink and water-bottling lines, food processing, pharmaceutical production and clean-utility loops in the region. In Gulf conditions, equipment is washed down often and ambient temperatures are high, so a fully drainable stainless valve that tolerates CIP and steam is a practical way to cut cleaning downtime.
Information to send with an RFQ for the 3347
- Nominal size, Kvs, flow direction and required characteristic.
- Medium, working pressure and temperature, plus CIP/SIP data.
- Body type, end connections and surface finish.
- Certificates and seal materials required.
- Actuator, accessories, spare parts and quantity.
Site conditions in Oman for the 3347
Valves and their accessories in Oman work in demanding conditions: high ambient temperatures, direct sun on outdoor pipe racks, dust, and corrosive coastal air at many oil, gas and water sites. When you specify the 3347, confirm the pressure and temperature ratings, body and trim materials and any sour-service or hazardous-area requirements against the actual line data, and check that seals and soft parts suit the process medium and the full temperature range.
For reliable operation, plan access for maintenance, define which spare parts are kept on site, and record the configuration of each installed 3347. Sending the complete process data sheet with your RFQ allows the selection to be checked before the order is placed.

Samson valve, actuator and positioner types
Samson builds a control valve from modules. The Type 3241 globe valve is the general-service body of Series 240, and the Type 3251 is the Series 250 body for higher pressure ratings. Either one is combined with a Type 3271 pneumatic diaphragm actuator or a Type 3277, whose yoke allows the positioner to be attached directly with a concealed travel linkage.
Among the positioners listed are the Type 3725 and the Type 3730 family: the 3730-1 as the basic electropneumatic version, sold in its current generation as TROVIS 3730-1, and the 3730-3 with HART communication and valve diagnostics. Samson also makes PROFIBUS PA and FOUNDATION fieldbus variants in the same family, plus self-operated pressure and temperature regulators.
Where Samson valves are used
Samson control valves throttle steam, gas and liquids in chemical and petrochemical units, refineries, gas processing, power stations, water and desalination plants, and food production. Many reach site as part of a skid or package, so the plant instrument team often meets them first when a positioner or actuator needs replacing. We supply these items to end users and contractors throughout the GCC.
