Description

Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 3500 system rack, rack mount (19-inch EIA)

The 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 is the plain rack-mount full-size version of the 3500 rack, with the CE option and no hazardous-area approval. It is the configuration to choose for a general-purpose control room installation on 19-inch EIA rails.

The Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 is the 3500/05 System Rack ordered as a 19-inch EIA rack-mount full-size rack. The rack holds the power supplies, the Transient Data Interface and up to 14 monitor, relay, Keyphasor or gateway modules. Seven Star LLC supplies 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

Maximum modules supported Any combination of monitors, relay, Keyphasor and gateway modules in the 14 slots

Mounting and installation of 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01

Fit the rack on the EIA rails at the planned height using the rack ears, with the 482.6 mm width and 265.94 mm (10.47 in) height in mind. Allow 349.25 mm of depth for the standard case, or 422.91 mm if internal barriers are used, and leave rear clearance for the I/O modules and cables.

Rack mounting suits the standard marshalling or control cabinets used by turbine and compressor packages, where several 19-inch items share the same frame.

Approval and compliance notes for 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01

This rack has no approval option, so it is intended for use where the site classification, such as a safe control room, does not require the rack to carry Division 2 or Zone 2 marking. Where the rack is placed in a classified area, a rack with an approval option or suitable enclosure is required. The datasheet lists EMC and low voltage directives, RoHS and DNV GL and ABS marine listings for the family.

What goes into the rack

A 3500 rack is a passive backplane frame. The left-most positions are reserved for the 3500/15 power supplies and the 3500/20 or 3500/22M interface module, and the remaining 14 positions take main modules at the front and I/O modules at the rear (above the main module on bulkhead racks). Spares and filler items listed by the manufacturer for the rack are:

  • 125388-01 half-height module adapter (internal chassis), 125565-01 card guide, 04300111 screws (qty 3).
  • 131150-01 power supply blank front panel; 128085-01 power supply input connector cover; 04310251 screws.
  • 130768-01 full-height blank monitor cover kit (130944-01 front panel and 128031-01 I/O cover).
  • 131151-01 half-height blank front panel; 00561941 TMR/SIM jumper on the backplane.
  • 129766-01 rack installation and maintenance manual and 130432-01 field wiring diagrams.

Selection checklist for 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01

  • Confirm that the cabinet has 19-inch EIA rails with room for 10.47 in of rack height and rear cabling access.
  • Confirm that no hazardous-area approval is needed on the rack itself; otherwise look at 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01.
  • Confirm the CE option is wanted. This part ends in 01, so it is the CE-marked version of the plain rack-mount rack.
  • Count the modules (power supplies, interface module and up to 14 monitors) to make sure 14 positions are enough.
  • List the I/O types and termination style, since they influence rear space and depth.

Rack family comparison

Part number Rack Mounting Approval option CE
3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 19-inch Rack mount None Yes
3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 19-inch Rack mount cNRTLus Div. 2 Yes
3500/05-01-02-00-00-00 19-inch Rack mount None 00
3500/05-01-03-00-00-00 19-inch Bulkhead None 00
3500/05-01-01-00-00-00 19-inch Panel mount None 00
3500/05-01-01-01-00-00 19-inch Panel mount cNRTLus Div. 2 00

Compared with its sibling 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01, the only difference is the missing cNRTLus option; compared with 3500/05-01-02-00-00-00, the difference is the CE code at the end of the part number.

Typical applications in Oman and the GCC

3500 racks protect gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, large motors and pumps in oil and gas, power generation, desalination and petrochemical plants in Oman and the GCC. A rack is a long-life item that may stay in service for decades, so replacement racks are usually requested during modernization or when a backplane is damaged. High ambient temperatures, dust and humid coastal air mean the installation location, cabinet ventilation and earthing quality matter as much as the rack itself.

990 and 991 2-wire transmitters 4-20 mA vibration (990) and thrust position (991) signals straight into a PLC or DCS, without a monitor rack
1900/65A, 2300 Compact monitors Protection for balance-of-plant pumps, fans and motors where a full 3500 rack is not justified

A proximity probe measures the gap to the shaft, so it sees shaft movement inside a fluid-film bearing directly. A velocity or acceleration sensor sits on the casing and suits rolling-element bearing machines. Critical turbomachinery usually carries two X-Y probes per bearing, two axial probes for thrust position and a Keyphasor probe for speed and phase.

Where Bently Nevada systems are used

In Oman and the GCC, Bently Nevada racks and probes protect gas turbines, compressors and steam turbines in gas processing, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power and desalination plants. Many installations are 3500 racks that have run for years, so most requests are for like-for-like module, probe, extension cable and proximitor replacements, plus upgrades to newer monitors.

Ordering and replacement: what we need

For probes and proximitors, send the full part number with all option digits (for example 330101-00-27-10-02-05). The digits set the probe length, cable length, connector and approvals, and the probe, cable and proximitor must match in total system length. For 3500 modules, send the module and I/O part numbers from the rack and say whether the I/O is internal or external termination, or barrier type. If a module is obsolete, we quote the replacement that Bently Nevada names and point out any configuration or firmware change.

Facts checked against Baker Hughes Bently Nevada pages and published company history, October 2026.

FAQ

Questions about the Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 Rack-Mount

Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.

01What is Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01?
It is a 3500/05 System Rack ordered as a full-size 19-inch rack with 14 module slots in the rack mount (19-inch EIA) format. The ordering fields are decoded in the manufacturer's 3500/05 datasheet.
02How many modules does 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 accept?
The power supplies and the interface module occupy the far-left positions, and the remaining 14 positions accept any combination of monitor, relay, Keyphasor and gateway modules.
03What is the mounting style of 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01?
It is the rack mount option (code 02), which mounts the full-size rack on 19-inch EIA rails with wiring and I/O modules reached from the rear.
04Does 3500/05-01-02-00-00-01 carry an approval option?
No. The approval field is 00, meaning no agency approval option is selected. The cNRTLus Division 2 option is code 01, as in 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01.
05What is needed if internal barriers are used?
Racks with internal barriers need the 3500/04-01 Internal Barrier Earthing Module in a dedicated rack position, and internal barrier I/O modules add depth, 422.91 mm instead of 349.25 mm in total.
