Brand: Lumel
Lumel N14 3-Phase Power Network Meter with RS-485
Description
The Lumel N14 is a programmable three-phase panel meter with a bright 3 x 3 digit red LED display. It measures current, voltage, power, power factor and four-quadrant energy in 3- and 4-wire balanced or unbalanced networks and sends the data over RS-485 Modbus. The page SKU follows the data sheet ordering example N14-2 2 00 7: 5 A current input, 3 x 230/400 V voltage input, standard version, with an extra quality inspection certificate.
Why choose the N14 for plant switchboards
The N14 shows all three phases at once on a large LED field that is easy to read from a distance in a dim switch room or on a generator panel. Its energy registers keep counting import, export, inductive and capacitive energy (P+, P-, QL, QC), so it can serve a tie feeder or a captive generator, where power flows both ways. The configuration, including the battery-supported energy counters, survives a supply loss. A detection and signalling function reports an incorrect phase sequence, a useful commissioning check on motor feeders and generator sets.

Reading the N14 order code
The code is N14 – X X XX X X. The first digit is the current input (1 for 1 A, 2 for 5 A), the second the voltage (1 for 3 x 57.7/100 V, 2 for 3 x 230/400 V, 3 for 3 x 400/690 V, a version for direct measurement only). The next two digits give the version: 00 standard, 01 for 3 x 110/190 V, 06 for -30 to 50 degrees C operation, XX custom. The last digit is the acceptance test: 8 without extra quality requirements, 7 with an extra quality inspection certificate, X to customer request. So N14-2200-7 is 5 A, 3 x 230/400 V, standard, with the inspection certificate.
Installation and operation notes from the manual
The manual specifies a 91 x 91 mm panel cut-out with a panel not thicker than 6 mm, two screw holders and wires up to 2.5 mm2 on the rear terminals. Install it with the supply off and fit a switch or circuit breaker near the meter. It is recommended to earth terminal 11. A voltage above 0.05 Un on at least one phase is needed for a correct measurement. Factory serial settings are address 1, 9600 bit/s, RTU 8N2. The data sheet lists the P43 transducer and the PD10 converter under related products.
Applications in Oman and the GCC
Typical places are low-voltage main switchboards, diesel generator panels, pump motor control centres, and chiller plants where one three-phase meter and a Modbus link feed a building management system. The ambient range of -25 to 55 degrees C needs checking for panels in direct sun.
Selection and installation notes
A panel meter is selected from the current and voltage inputs, the wiring system and the communication needed. Check the current transformer ratio, connect the voltage inputs through suitable fuses, respect the phase order, set the transformer ratios and the Modbus parameters in the meter and compare the first readings with a reference. Fit the meter in a panel with the cut-out size on the data sheet.
