Brand: VEGA
VEGA VEGABAR 86 Submersible Slave Sensor Ceramic Cell
Description
A front-flush ceramic submersible slave for electronic level and DP
The VEGABAR 86 is a submersible pressure transmitter used as the slave in an electronic differential-pressure system with a VEGABAR 80 series master. Cable and tube versions let it hang into a vessel or sump, where the front-flush ceramic CERTEC cell gives a self-cleaning effect. VEGA lists the pairing for gauge difference, level with superimposed pressure or vacuum, flow, density and interface measurement, and stresses high plant availability from the overload- and vacuum-resistant ceramic cell and low maintenance cost from its wear-free design.

Level with superimposed pressure
When a tank is under gas pressure or vacuum, a single hydrostatic probe reads liquid head plus gas pressure. Pairing the VEGABAR 86 at the bottom with a master at the top lets the electronics subtract the two, so the display shows the true liquid height. VEGA’s sheet gives the smallest span as 0.025 bar, which is fine enough for shallow tanks and low-density liquids. The cable and tube versions give flexibility to hang the probe into narrow nozzles and long vessels.
Choosing the 86 or the 87
The VEGABAR 87 uses a metallic Alloy C276 diaphragm and an FEP cable for hotter liquids and viscous products in chemical, food and pharmaceutical plants, while the 86 uses the ceramic cell with PE cable and 316L or PVDF body for water-based and abrasive liquids. Tell us the medium, temperature, cable length and master type, and confirm the fitting and the Ex or ship approvals with VEGA before ordering.
The product information also notes that housings are available up to IP68 (25 bar) with external electronics and IP69K, so the master housing can sit above flood level while the slave hangs in the liquid. The ceramic cell is front-flush, which VEGA says creates a self-cleaning effect, and PVDF versions are listed beside 316L where chemicals or brine attack stainless steel. Cable length, cable gland and the strain relief at the vessel entry are part of the configuration, and suspension of the slave should avoid swinging in an agitated tank.

About brand
VEGA is a German maker of level and pressure instruments. Bruno Grieshaber founded the company in 1959 in Triberg in the Black Forest, and it has been based in Schiltach since 1975, still family owned as VEGA Grieshaber KG. VEGA is best known for radar level sensors: it introduced the first two-wire radar level sensor in 1997 and the first 80 GHz radar sensor for bulk solids, the VEGAPULS 69, in 2015.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing VEGA radar and guided wave radar transmitters, point level switches, pressure transmitters and signal conditioning instruments for buyers in Oman and the GCC. Sensors are matched from the product code on the type label.

Where VEGA instruments are used
VEGA radar sensors measure level in crude oil and product tanks, separators, chemical reactors, cement and aggregate silos, grain stores and water reservoirs. Compact cable radars are widely used in wastewater pumping stations and flood monitoring. Because 80 GHz radar focuses a narrow beam, it can measure past internal structures in a tank, and it is not affected by the temperature, pressure or vapour above the product, which suits hot Gulf storage tanks.
Ordering VEGA instruments: what we need
The product code on the type label (for example PS64.XXXXXXX) fixes the measuring range, antenna or probe, process connection, electronics and approvals. Send it with the serial number. For a new measurement add the medium and its dielectric constant if known, tank or silo height and internals, process pressure and temperature, process connection, output (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS PA, Modbus or IO-Link), and any hazardous-area or overfill protection approval required.
