Brand:

Axiomtek eBOX640-521-FL Fanless Embedded System

Description

A Coffee Lake LGA1151 fanless box for existing 8th and 9th Gen designs

The Axiomtek eBOX640-521-FL is a fanless embedded system with an LGA1151 socket for 9th and 8th Generation Intel Core i7, i5, i3 or Celeron processors (Coffee Lake) on the Intel H310 chipset, with CPUs up to 35 W. It is the kind of platform that turns up in installed machines and long-running projects, which is why customers ask for the exact code when a unit has to be replaced or cloned.

Status note: Axiomtek's datasheet, updated in November 2025, still lists the model and its ordering code, but it is built on a previous-generation platform. The datasheet does not state a discontinuation date or a successor, so availability should be confirmed with the manufacturer before a project depends on it.

How this model differs from newer eBOX units

It runs on a DC jack at 19 V instead of the wide 9 to 36 V terminal block found on the newer boxes, and its temperature range starts at -10 C rather than -40 C. Those two points matter when replacing a unit in a cabinet: check the existing power adapter and ambient range. Two front-access 2.5 inch bays and a flexible I/O window, by default two half-cut DB9 connectors, give practical expansion.

Optional Mini PCIe modules listed by the manufacturer include CAN bus (AX92903), extra LAN (AX92902, AX92918), COM (AX92906) and audio (AX92905), plus wall-mount and DIN-rail kits and a 19 V 120 W adapter.

Confirm before ordering

Ask about current availability and lead time, the processor and memory to be fitted, the DC supply, and the operating system: the datasheet lists Windows 10 IoT, Windows 11 IoT and Linux. If you are matching an installed unit, compare the full model suffix, which here is FL-DC.

How the Axiomtek eBOX640-521-FL works

The eBOX640-521-FL is a small computer without fans. The processor sits on a socket in a metal housing, and the case itself spreads the heat to the air outside. With no moving parts there is nothing to clog with dust. The H310 chipset links the processor to memory, the two gigabit network ports, USB, display outputs and the storage bays. A flexible I/O window and a Mini PCIe slot allow extra serial, CAN or network modules to be added.

Where the Axiomtek eBOX640-521-FL is used

  • Machine control and data collection
  • Replacement in installed systems
  • Vision and gateway tasks
  • Digital signage and kiosks
  • Factory edge computing

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the eBOX640-521-FL

Mount the box on a flat surface with space around the fins. Fit memory and drives before applying power, and use a wide-temperature SSD and DRAM if the site is hot. Connect the 19 V supply, the network cables and the display. Install the operating system and the drivers, then set the BIOS. Wipe dust from the case on a routine visit.

About brand

Axiomtek, founded in 1990 and based in New Taipei City, Taiwan, designs embedded systems, edge computing and industrial IoT hardware. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Axiomtek fanless eBOX computers and front-access IPC industrial systems such as the eBOX671B and the IPC980, each with the manufacturer datasheet.

Axiomtek product families

The eBOX line covers compact fanless computers with wide DC input, from small Alder Lake-N units to LGA1700 systems with MXM graphics. The IPC line uses a vertical front-access chassis with optional PCIe slot cages for add-in cards, and one IP67 model with M12 connectors. Operating ranges, power input and I/O differ between models, so the datasheet should be read against the application, for example whether a -40 C rating, ignition control or a given number of serial ports is needed.

Ordering Axiomtek systems

Send the full order code including the suffix, plus the processor, memory, storage and any I/O modules or mounting kits. Most systems in the range are ordered without CPU, memory and drives, so those must be specified separately, and wide-temperature parts are sorted through the manufacturer. The datasheet ordering section also lists mounting kits, adapters and add-on modules for each model.
