Kidde HPCO2 High Pressure CO2 Fire Suppression System

Description

CO2 protection for industrial hazards

The Kidde High Pressure Carbon Dioxide (HPCO2) fire suppression system is described by Kidde Fire Systems as a solution for heavy and light industrial applications where unoccupied spaces or assets need protection, where CO2 is an acceptable agent, and where a local application system may be needed in addition to total flooding. CO2 is stored in seamless steel cylinders as a liquid under its own vapor pressure at ambient temperature. The datasheet lists a global warming potential of one and an ozone depletion potential of zero.

Components the datasheet describes

Cylinders carry a forged brass valve assembly with a safety disc against over-pressurization, and a side port that serves as the fill connection and as the control port for control heads. Discharge heads come in plain-nut and grooved-nut styles. Cylinder racks are available in three arrangements: a single row (A), a row on each side with two aisles (B) and a double row on one side (C). Manifolds are set up as end, center or H types, with main and reserve options.

Control heads include lever, pressure, lever and pressure, electric, cable, and pneumatic versions, each with its own datasheet number listed in the document. Electric heads from the Kidde range, such as the WK-890181-000 electric control head, are the link between a release panel and the cylinder valve, and a pilot gas cylinder is used where the design calls for pilot actuation.

What to confirm before ordering

Provide the hazard type, protected volume or area, design method (total flooding or local application), required agent quantity, number and size of cylinders, whether a reserve supply is needed, control head type and the approval basis. Occupied areas call for safety accessories such as discharge delay, a siren, lockout valve and warning signs. CO2 can be lethal at certain concentrations, so post-discharge ventilation and personnel safety procedures belong to the project design. System design and installation are tasks for a qualified fire protection contractor.

About brand

Engineered fire suppression hardware, cylinders, valves and the control heads that release them, is the side of Kidde that industrial sites deal with. The name goes back to 1917. Seven Star LLC lists Kidde clean agent cylinders, control heads and pilot cylinders, and supplies Kidde fire systems parts to operators and fire contractors in Oman as an independent supplier. Household smoke alarms and aircraft systems sold under the same name are outside our scope.

Kidde fire suppression parts listed here

The listed items are release-train components: the WK-890181-000 electric control head, a 24 V DC unit used on Kidde FM-200 systems, an FM-200 (HFC-227ea) clean agent cylinder in the 200 lb size, and the K62462 pilot gas cylinder. Kidde also builds high-pressure CO2 systems with their own control heads and nitrogen pilot cylinders. Typical sites in the GCC are turbine enclosures, switchgear and control rooms, data halls and marine machinery spaces.

Ordering Kidde parts: what we need

Kidde components are ordered by part number, so send it exactly as printed on the label or in the system drawings. For an agent cylinder we also need the fill weight, valve type and the transport documents required. Send the nameplate photo and the system design reference whenever possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What cylinder sizes does the HPCO2 system use?
The datasheet lists 25, 35, 50, 75 and 100 lb, with a 123 lb size marked availability to be announced.
Can HPCO2 be used for local application?
Yes. The datasheet says systems can be configured for total flooding, local application or both, and hand hose lines can supplement a fixed system.
How is an HPCO2 cylinder released?
Primarily by a control head on the valve control port. Secondary actuation works by back-pressure without additional hardware.
What temperature range is stated?
-10 to 130 degrees F, or -23 to 54 degrees C.
Is CO2 suitable for occupied spaces?
The datasheet positions HPCO2 for unoccupied spaces or assets and lists discharge delay, sirens, lockout valves and signs as safety accessories where areas can be entered.
