Micro Motion 1000 and 2000 MVD Coriolis Transmitters 1500 1700 2500 2700

Description

MVD transmitters for Coriolis meters, from basic to multivariable

The Micro Motion 1000 and 2000 transmitters with MVD technology cover the 1500, 1700, 2500 and 2700 models. MVD (Multi-Variable Digital) technology processes the sensor signal at the front end, which gives faster response, less noise and standard 4-wire instrument cabling. The 1500 and 1700 are single-variable units for mass flow or volume flow; the 2500 and 2700 output several variables at once, including mass flow, volume flow, gas standard volume flow, density, temperature and drive gain.

Choosing between the four models

Choose the 1700 or 1500 where only one flow variable is needed, for example batching or a flow total. Choose the 2700 or 2500 when the control system also needs density or temperature, or when several outputs must be configurable: the output code decides which channels are mA, frequency, discrete or fieldbus. Output codes 2, 3 and 4 on the 2700 include a housing with an extra conduit connection for a 775 THUM adapter. The 1700 and 2700 integrate with Micro Motion sensors including the ELITE family, for example the Micro Motion ELITE CMF series, and with the F, H, R and T families covered elsewhere in the catalogue.

What to confirm before ordering

  • Model (1500, 1700, 2500 or 2700), mounting code and 4-wire or 9-wire sensor
  • Output code, protocol and any filling and dosing or custody transfer software
  • Housing material and display requirement, including language
  • Hazardous area approval; the datasheet notes that some options limit IECEx ambient range
  • Whether a newer transmitter would be preferable for a new project

About brand

Micro Motion is the Emerson brand for Coriolis flow and density measurement. The company started in Boulder, Colorado, and made the Coriolis effect commercially practical for industrial mass flow metering from 1977. Emerson acquired Micro Motion in 1984, and the meters are still developed and built under the Micro Motion name.

Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists the Micro Motion ELITE CMF400 Coriolis flow and density meter and the compact G-Series, and sources Micro Motion flow meters by complete model code.

Micro Motion company profile

Founded Boulder, Colorado, USA; Coriolis meters since 1977
Ownership Emerson since 1984
Technology Coriolis mass flow, with density and temperature measured from the same vibrating tubes
Product families ELITE (CMF), F-Series, H-Series, R-Series and T-Series Coriolis sensors; 1700, 2700, 4200 and 5700 transmitters; fork and tube density and viscosity meters

Milestones

  • 1977: Micro Motion begins selling Coriolis flowmeters from Boulder, Colorado.
  • 1984: Emerson acquires Micro Motion.

Micro Motion meter families

ELITE is the manufacturer's top performance family for flow and density, and the CMF400 is one of its larger line sizes. The G-Series is a newer, very compact family for general duty. Each sensor is paired with a Coriolis transmitter, and the range also includes density and viscosity meters. Liquids, gases and slurries can all be measured, which is why these meters appear in oil and gas, refining, chemical, food and marine service.

Ordering Micro Motion meters: what we need

A Micro Motion sensor and its transmitter each have their own model code and serial number; send both. For a new meter we need the fluid, flow range, density, viscosity, operating pressure and temperature, line size, process connection and rating, wetted material, hazardous area approval, outputs and protocol. Custody transfer duty in the GCC should be stated up front because it changes the approvals and calibration options requested.
