Description
Turbine wheel flow metering for cooling water and general process liquids
The KOBOLD DRB is a turbine wheel flow meter for measuring and monitoring low-viscosity liquids. A four-vane blade wheel is held radially in a sapphire bearing and set in motion by the flowing medium. Magnets sealed into the ends of the blades generate pulses in a Hall-effect sensor mounted outside the flow area, and the frequency is proportional to flow. The sensor is supplied ready to install with pipe fittings or with weld-on sleeves.
KOBOLD lists cooling water monitoring, general mechanical engineering, waste water treatment, heavy goods industry and the chemical industry as fields of application. Evaluation electronics range from a simple frequency output to a compact LED unit, an ADI bargraph and display unit, and counter and dosing electronics.

The installation-adapter versions DRB-1200 and DRB-1300 for DN 25 to DN 80 have a measuring range of about 0.2 to 3 m/s with a stainless steel axle or ceramic axle. Compact and ADI electronics are not available on the adapter versions.
Ordering notes
The order example is DRB-1105 G4 F300: model, connection and electronics. Please specify the flow direction in writing for the compact and ADI electronics. A plug-on 4-digit LED display (AUF-1000, or AUF-1001 with an extra open collector output) can be fitted to the DRB-…L442 analogue version.
Confirm before ordering: the liquid and its viscosity (low viscosity only), the filtered state of the water because turbine bearings can wear with particles, flow range against the pressure loss, and the output the PLC or display needs.

KOBOLD Messring is a German manufacturer of instruments for flow, pressure, level and temperature, founded in 1980 by engineer Klaus J. Kobold in Hofheim am Taunus.
