Kaeser CBS-HBS Rotary Screw Blowers, 3-160 m3/min

Description

Screw blowers for 3 to 160 m³/min at up to 1.1 bar

The Kaeser CBS, DBS, EBS, FBS, GBS and HBS rotary screw blowers are built around SIGMA PROFILE rotors and cover 3 to 160 m³/min at pressure differentials up to 1.1 bar, the range used for wastewater aeration, pneumatic conveying, flotation and other low-pressure process air. They are delivered as turnkey packages with a sound enclosure, SIGMA CONTROL 2 controller, intake and discharge silencers, a Super Premium efficiency IE4/IES2 motor and either an STC or an SFC control cabinet. Kaeser quotes effective overall power consumption and usable flow to ISO 1217 Annex C for STC and Annex E for SFC versions.

The L versions are listed at 700 mbar pressure differential and the M versions at 1100 mbar (1000 mbar on the EBS 410 CM); STC units are fixed speed with an STC control cabinet and SFC units are frequency controlled. Some SFC models also list a vacuum differential of 550 mbar, so check the brochure when vacuum operation is required.

Design and package contents

The package includes the blower airend, an unloaded-start valve and non-return flap as options, a compensator, a sound-enclosure fan with cooling-air routing and torsion-free enclosure panels. The brochure presents the units as user-friendly turnkey systems: oil filling, belt installation, motor adjustment, frequency converter selection and EMC-compliant cabling are done at the factory, so the site only provides power and the air connection.

Blowers versus compressors

Screw blowers address pressure differentials up to 1.1 bar, while the screw compressors below are rated for 5.5 to 15 bar. Select a blower when the process needs a large volume at low pressure.

Kaeser series Flow rate, m3/min Pressure, bar
ASD 0.89 to 6.39 5.5 to 15
BSD 1.12 to 8.19 5.5 to 15
CSD(X) 1.1 to 19.4 5.5 to 15
ESD up to 47.2 up to 15

Selecting and ordering

Select by volume flow and pressure differential at the actual intake temperature, and by whether the duty varies (SFC) or is steady (STC). Confirm voltage, altitude and ambient temperature, the medium, and the pipe connection size. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes the exact model. The brochure is attached and other machines are under Compressors.

How the Kaeser CBS-HBS rotary screw blowers work

A rotary screw blower compresses air between two meshing rotors that turn without touching each other, so the air is oil-free. As the rotors turn, the air is carried along the rotor profile, compressed and delivered to the discharge. The SIGMA PROFILE rotors are shaped for efficient compression at low pressure differentials. The blower is driven through a belt by the electric motor, and the package includes the sound enclosure, silencers, a controller and a cabinet, so the unit arrives as a complete system.

Where the CBS-HBS blowers are used

  • Wastewater aeration in treatment plants.
  • Pneumatic conveying of powders and granules.
  • Flotation and other low-pressure process air.
  • Industrial duties that need oil-free air at up to 1.1 bar differential.

Selection checklist for the CBS-HBS

  • Flow required, from 3 up to 160 m3/min across the six frame sizes.
  • Pressure differential: L versions at 700 mbar and M versions at 1100 mbar.
  • Control: STC for fixed speed or SFC for frequency control and variable demand.
  • Motor power, from 18.5 kW to 250 kW, with a Super Premium efficiency IE4 motor.
  • Pipe size, from DN 80 to DN 300, and the space for the footprint shown in the table.
  • Weight and floor loading, from 750 kg up to 6000 kg.
  • Vacuum duty, where some SFC models list a differential of 550 mbar.
  • Ambient temperature, ventilation and the cooling air route for the enclosure.
  • Options such as the unloaded-start valve and the non-return flap.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Choose a clean, ventilated place with enough room for cooling air to flow in and out. Connect the discharge pipe with a flexible joint and a non-return device, and keep the intake free of dust. Because oil filling, belt installation and cabling are done at the factory, the site provides power and the pipe connection. Check the belt tension, filters and cooling air paths at the service intervals, and follow the maintenance schedule from the controller.

Requesting a quotation for the Kaeser CBS-HBS blower

Send the flow, pressure differential, control type and the site conditions. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

Energy use and control

Blowers often run for long hours, so the power consumption matters more than the purchase price. A frequency-controlled SFC unit adjusts speed to the demand, while a fixed speed STC unit suits a steady load. The SIGMA CONTROL 2 controller manages the operation and gives status and maintenance data.

Sound enclosure and cooling

The sound enclosure reduces noise and routes the cooling air through the package. Keep the intake and outlet openings clear, and do not block the flow of air with walls or equipment placed too close to the unit.

Documentation and performance data

Kaeser quotes effective overall power consumption and usable flow to ISO 1217, Annex C for STC and Annex E for SFC versions. Use these figures for comparison between offers, and ask for the full performance data for the exact model.

Turnkey package contents

The package includes the blower airend, a compensator, the sound enclosure with fan, silencers on the intake and discharge, the motor and the control cabinet. Optional items such as the unloaded-start valve and non-return flap can be added at order.

About brand

Kaeser Kompressoren is a German manufacturer of compressors, blowers and compressed air systems. Carl Kaeser Sr. established the company as a machine workshop in Coburg, Germany, on 27 June 1919, and the first reciprocating compressor followed in 1948. Today the range covers rotary screw and reciprocating compressors, rotary screw, turbo and rotary lobe blowers, compressor controllers, air treatment and the MOBILAIR portable compressors.

Kaeser compressor and blower range

The rotary screw compressors use the SIGMA PROFILE airend and the SIGMA CONTROL 2 controller, from compact units up to the large series for 515 kW, with oil-free compression models for sensitive applications. Rotary screw vacuum packages and several blower types for process air and aeration complete the machinery side of the Kaeser catalogue.

Compressed air treatment and ancillaries

Kaeser air treatment covers refrigeration and desiccant dryers, filters and activated carbon adsorbers, condensate drains and condensate treatment, plus air receivers and the SIGMA AIR MANAGER master controller. Send the free air delivery, working pressure, ambient temperature and required air quality to have the right Kaeser model confirmed before an offer is issued.
