Description
The Victron EasySolar-II 48/5000/70-50 MPPT 250/100 GX is an all-in-one solar power unit that integrates a MultiPlus-II inverter charger, a SmartSolar MPPT-Tr solar charge controller and a GX device with a two-line display. The three elements are prewired inside one enclosure, which cuts installation time and cost. The 5 kVA 48 V model is the largest in this datasheet, which also lists 3 kVA models at 24 V and 48 V.
Inverter, MPPT and monitoring prewired in one box
The SmartSolar DC output is wired in parallel with the MultiPlus-II DC connection, and the on-off mechanism of the MultiPlus-II also controls the MPPT. The GX device manages the MultiPlus-II over VE.Bus and the MPPT over VE.Direct. It adds a BMS-Can interface for a CAN-bus managed battery (this is not a VE.Can port), USB, Ethernet, VE.Direct and Wi-Fi. Data flows to the free VRM Portal, and alarms can be received by email.
Two system topologies are described: grid in-line, where excess PV charges the batteries or feeds the grid and the unit disconnects the grid and continues to supply loads in an outage, and grid parallel, where an external current sensor or power meter lets the unit optimise self-consumption and prevent grid feed. PowerControl and PowerAssist limit the AC input current and add battery power for peaks.

What to check before ordering
Select the unit by battery voltage (48 V for the 5 kVA model), the PV array voltage and power (up to 250 V and 5800 W) and the grid code requirements, because Victron publishes country-specific anti-islanding certificates separately. Allow for derating in hot rooms: the continuous power drops from 4000 W at 25 degrees C to 3000 W at 55 degrees C, and the operating range here is -20 to +45 degrees C.
