Bray Tri Lok Triple Offset Butterfly Valve

Description

Non-rubbing triple offset butterfly valve for zero-leakage isolation

The Bray Tri Lok is a triple offset butterfly valve built for isolation from vacuum to high pressure and from cryogenic to high-temperature service. Its cam-like geometry removes rubbing between the seat and the seal ring as the disc travels, and the torque-seated metal-to-metal seal gives bidirectional zero-leakage shutoff and a fire-tested design. Bray lists upstream and downstream oil and gas, LNG and liquefaction, refining, chemical processing, power generation, steam distribution, geothermal steam, bulk liquid storage, shipbuilding, sugar and ethanol, pulp and paper liquor and water and wastewater as applications, and positions it as a lighter, more compact alternative to gate, globe or ball valves of the same size and pressure class.

Design features that matter in service

The seat and seal system is field-replaceable, which shortens downtime compared with sending the body for repair. The splined disc-to-stem connection lets the stem move axially independent of the disc, protects the connection from temperature and pressure effects, and removes external disc fasteners. The stem packing is adjustable and field-replaceable and is certified to the fugitive emission standards listed above; the one-piece stem has a blowout-prevention ring outside the pressure boundary, an index for visual disc position, elongated hardened bearings, and body walls thickened in accordance with API 600.

Selection and what to confirm before ordering

State size, ASME class or PN rating, body style and flange standard, medium and design temperature, body and seal ring material (the seal ring choice drives the temperature and cleanliness limits), fire-safe and fugitive emission requirements, and the actuator or gearbox with ISO 5211 mounting. For lower-pressure resilient seated duty see the Bray Series 30/31 butterfly valve; more valves are under Control Valves.

About brand

Bray valves are a familiar sight on water, HVAC and general process lines, mostly as rubber-lined butterfly valves with an actuator bolted on top. Bray International, founded in 1986 in Houston, USA, makes butterfly valves, ball valves and the pneumatic and electric actuators that drive them. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Bray valves and actuators for plants and building services in Oman, including the Series 30/31 and Series 70 listed here.

Bray valves and actuators listed here

Series 30 and Series 31 are the resilient-seated butterfly valves: Series 30 is the wafer body and Series 31 the lug body. They are used for on/off and throttling duty on water, air and other fluids compatible with the seat. The Series 70 is Bray's electric actuator for quarter-turn valves, ordered by torque size and supply voltage, with on/off or modulating control.

Ordering Bray butterfly valves: what we need

For a valve, send the series, size, wafer or lug body, body, disc and seat materials, flange standard and operator type (lever, gear or actuator). For a Series 70 actuator, send the torque size from the nameplate, voltage, and whether it is on/off or modulating. A nameplate photo covers most of this. GCC water projects often specify the seat and disc materials, so quote them exactly.
