Victron Cerbo GX Communication Centre

Description

The communication centre that monitors and controls a Victron power system

The Victron Cerbo GX is a GX communication centre that brings the inverter/chargers, solar charge controllers, battery monitors and batteries of a Victron system together in one place. Victron describes it as giving perfect control of the system from anywhere through the VRM Remote Monitoring portal, directly on a GX Touch screen, on a Multi-Functional Display, or through the VictronConnect app over Bluetooth. A remote console is also available on the local network or through the WiFi access point of the Cerbo GX.

It monitors battery state of charge, power consumption, power harvested from PV, generator and mains, and tank levels and temperatures. It can limit the shore power input current, automatically start and stop a generator, and run alarms and diagnostics, which is useful for remote sites and off-grid or backup systems where a visit to the plant room is costly.

GX Touch display and accessories

The GX Touch 50 (800 x 480) and GX Touch 70 (1024 x 600) are optional displays that connect with a single cable, in top/wall mount and flush versions, with IP54 or, for the flush version with its rubber gasket, IP65 ratings given in the datasheet. A protective cover is included with top/wall versions. The datasheet also lists a temperature sensor for Quattro, MultiPlus and other GX devices, and a small DIN35 adapter.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm which products need to connect (VE.Bus inverter/chargers, VE.Direct MPPT controllers, VE.Can or BMS-Can batteries), whether a GX Touch display is needed, and the internet connection available on site for VRM. Cerbo-S GX is a lighter variant without tank, temperature and BMS-Can inputs. Victron inverter/chargers on this site include the MultiPlus-II 48/5000, and other solar and backup equipment is listed under Solar Power.

How the Victron Cerbo GX works

The Cerbo GX is a small computer that talks to each Victron device in the system. Inverter/chargers connect on VE.Bus, solar charge controllers and battery monitors on VE.Direct, and batteries on VE.Can or BMS-Can. The Cerbo GX collects the data from all of them and shows it in one place. It sends the data over Ethernet or WiFi to the VRM portal, where it can be read from anywhere. It can also act: it limits the shore power input current, and it starts and stops a generator through its relays.

Where the Cerbo GX is used

  • Off-grid power systems at remote sites
  • Backup power systems for telecom and instrument cabinets
  • Solar installations that need production and battery monitoring
  • Systems with a generator that starts automatically
  • Sites where tank levels and temperatures are watched
  • Installations that need alarms sent to a remote operator

Selection checklist for the Cerbo GX

  • Number of devices: three VE.Direct ports, up to 15 devices in total
  • Need for VE.Can or BMS-Can battery communication
  • Supply of 8 to 70 V DC at the unit
  • Optional GX Touch 50 or GX Touch 70 display
  • Wall mount or DIN rail with the DIN35 adapter
  • Inputs needed: four tank level, four temperature and four digital
  • Two relays rated 6 A at up to 30 V DC
  • Ethernet or WiFi link for the VRM portal

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Mount the unit on a wall or on a DIN rail, and keep it in a dry place, as it is rated IP20. Connect the supply, then the VE.Bus, VE.Direct and VE.Can cables. Use the VictronConnect app over Bluetooth for the first connection. Add the unit to the VRM portal and check that the data arrives. Set the alarms and the generator start conditions. Check the firmware at service visits.

Requesting a quotation for the Cerbo GX

Please send the devices to be connected, the display needed and the quantity. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

About brand

A battery-based backup or off-grid system needs one device that inverts, charges the battery and switches between AC sources. In the Victron Energy program that device is the MultiPlus-II inverter charger. Victron Energy, founded in 1975 and based in Almere, Netherlands, makes inverters, chargers and battery systems.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list the MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 and source Victron inverter chargers for buyers in Oman.

Reading the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 model name

The name carries the main ratings: a 48 V battery system, 5000 VA inverter output, a 70 A battery charger and a 50 A AC transfer switch. Victron's documentation gives a 230 VAC output and continuous power of 4000 W at 25 °C, falling to 3700 W at 40 °C. The unit supports Victron's PowerControl and PowerAssist functions for use with a limited grid or generator supply.

Ordering Victron Energy equipment: what we need

Send the complete model name, state if you need the standard or the GX version, and give the battery voltage and battery type. Tell us if the unit will run alone, in parallel or in a three-phase group, and the ambient temperature at the site, which matters in the GCC. We check the model against Victron documentation and provide the manufacturer's datasheet on request.
