DAB DRENAG 1000 M Stainless Steel Submersible Drainage Pump

DRENAG 1000 M is the single-phase 1 kW model of the DAB DRENAG 1000-1200 submersible pumps, built from AISI 304 stainless steel with a microcast ring impeller to drain rain water, ground water and sandy water from construction sites, with a free passage of 10 mm.

A stainless drainage pump for sandy and muddy water

DAB specifies the DRENAG 1000-1200 for rain water, ground water, sandy water from construction sites and clean, non-aggressive waste water. The sheet describes it as suitable for draining clean waste water, sandy water and muddy water with solid particles up to 10 mm without fibres, in residential use and on construction sites, including after unexpected flooding.

The 1000 M is the smaller of the two sizes: its tabulated head is 15.3 m at zero flow and 4.7 m at 18 m3/h, against 17 m and 7.3 m at 18 m3/h for the DRENAG 1200.

The datasheet lists four codes: DRENAG 1000 M (1 x 220-240 V, 1 kW), DRENAG 1000 T (3 x 400 V, 1 kW, 2.43 A), DRENAG 1200 M (1.2 kW, 7.5 A) and DRENAG 1200 T (1.2 kW, 3.24 A). Choose the 1000 M for a single-phase supply and heads up to about 15 m; the 1200 adds about 1.7 m of shut-off head (derived from 17 m minus 15.3 m). Specify whether you need the float switch version, since the single-phase pump can be supplied with a float for automatic operation.

Working it on site

The pump can stand on the sump floor or be hung, in a vertical or horizontal position, and the sheet gives a 7 m maximum immersion depth. Keep solids below 10 mm and free of fibres, because fibrous material is outside the duty stated on the sheet. Limit starts to 20 an hour. Run the 10 m cable so it is not trapped between the pump and the pit wall, and use a supply with earth-leakage protection as your local wiring rules require.

Dewatering jobs in the Gulf

Foundation and trench dewatering, basement pits flooded after heavy rain, tank-farm bund draining and water-table lowering on construction plots are all duties where a 10 mm passage and a stainless body are useful. In coastal sites, remember the sheet gives a 0 to +50°C liquid range for non-domestic use but no chloride or seawater rating, so confirm suitability with the manufacturer before pumping saline water.

Selection and installation notes

A submersible pump is selected from the liquid, the solids size, the head and the depth of the pit or well. Lower it on a chain or rope and not by the cable, keep it clear of the pit floor, fit a float switch or level control so it cannot run dry, use a cable and breaker rated for the motor and check the direction of rotation on three-phase models. Clean the inlet and inspect the pump at regular intervals.
