Description
Stainless steel vortex sewage pumps for solids up to 50 mm
The Pedrollo VX is a submersible vortex pump for sewage, groundwater and surface water that carries suspended solids. The VORTEX impeller is made of AISI 304 stainless steel and leaves a free passage in the volute, so solids up to 50 mm in diameter can pass without clogging according to the datasheet. Pedrollo describes the series as reliable especially in automated fixed installations and lists domestic, civil and industrial use: pumping out flooded areas such as basements, underground car parks and car wash stations, and emptying septic tanks and sewage systems.
The 50 Hz datasheet covers four motor sizes, VX 8, 10, 15 and 20, with 0.55 to 1.5 kW motors, flow up to 750 l/min (45 m3/h) and head up to 15.5 m. Each size comes with a /35 hydraulic (solids to 40 mm) or a /50 hydraulic (solids to 50 mm), in single-phase (VXm) and three-phase (VX) versions.

Single-phase pumps weigh from 13.7 kg (VXm 8/35) to 20.7 kg (VXm 20/50), and three-phase pumps from 12.6 kg to 18.5 kg. The head falls steadily with flow; for example the VX 20/35 delivers 11.5 m at 300 l/min and 3.8 m at 550 l/min.
Selection and installation notes
A vortex impeller trades some efficiency for clog resistance, so it suits intermittent drainage and sump duty rather than long continuous duty at high head. Choose the /50 version where larger solids are expected and the /35 where a little more head is needed. Keep the pump immersed to at least the minimum level for continuous service, and install it on a firm base with a float switch or level control set to stop before the pump runs dry. Pedrollo lists a 10 m cable for VX 8 and VX 10, 60 Hz and other voltages as options.

Pedrollo product series
Surface pumps include the CP close-coupled centrifugal pump from 0.25 to 2.2 kW, the 2CP twin-impeller pump from 1.1 to 11 kW, the F EN 733 close-coupled pump, the NGA open-impeller pump for dirty water and the HT vertical multistage pump.
Submersible pumps include the 4SR and 6SR borehole pumps for 4 and 6 inch wells and the VX vortex sewage pump.
Close-coupled centrifugal pumps suit clean water transfer and boosting, twin-impeller 2CP pumps give higher head at moderate flow, and the open-impeller NGA handles water with some solids. Submersible 4SR and 6SR pumps are matched to the well diameter, flow and depth, and the VX vortex pump passes solids in sewage and drainage.
