Brand:

Sensus Cordonel Static Ultrasonic Water Meter DN 40-200

Description

The Sensus Cordonel is a static flow meter for potable water that uses ultrasonic technology, so nothing in the pipe obstructs the flow and there are no moving parts to wear. It covers DN 40 to DN 200 at PN 16, with MID pattern approval, OIML R49 and ISO 4064 conformity and a ratio of up to R1000, which helps it register leaks and light-load periods as well as high flows. Sensus quotes a 20-year average meter life including battery under standard usage.

Features for network and bulk metering

The meter has an LCD showing consumption, flow, temperature and, optionally, pressure, plus an NFC interface to read the last volume. It has integrated radio communication and a data logger, uses the SensusRF and wM-Bus (OMS4 profile A and B) protocols with encrypted transmission, and can be submerged under IP68. An optional pulse output with programmable values and an optional integrated pressure sensor are listed. The data sheet names applications including billing of potable water up to 50 degC, radio-equipped walk-by and drive-by readout, fixed radio networks, high flows in pumped lines such as irrigation, leakage detection and use as an intelligent network sensor giving flow, pressure and temperature profiles.

Selection notes

Select the size from the permanent flow Q3, which runs from 40 m3/h at DN 40 to 630 m3/h at DN 200, and from the overload and peak flow values in the data sheet, and choose short or long lay length to match the existing flange spacing. The meter needs no straight pipe upstream or downstream (U0D0) and can be installed horizontally or vertically, but the display should not point downwards. Check that the water is potable cold water, because the approval is for billing up to 50 degC and the 70 degC range is listed separately. Confirm radio frequency, pulse mode and pressure sensor needs with the supplier before ordering, and check which approvals the local utility specifies, since the certificates listed are European.

About brand

Sensus is a water and thermal energy metering manufacturer whose Sensus International business is based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany. Its range runs from static electromagnetic and ultrasonic meters such as iPERL and Cordonel to volumetric, multijet, turbine and compound meters, with SensusRF radio for fixed-network and walk-by or drive-by reading. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Sensus meters that are backed by the manufacturer data sheets.\n\n

Sensus meter technologies

\n\nSensus International states that it is one of the few global manufacturers offering both leading static metering technologies, electromagnetic and ultrasonic, alongside traditional mechanical meters. Piston meters such as the 620 and 640, the 420 multijet and the DomoJet single jet cover residential and sub-metering duty, while the WP-Dynamic turbine, the WPV-MS compound meter and the MeiStream Plus bulk meter serve larger flows.\n\n

What we need to quote a Sensus meter

\n\nSend the DN, connection or flange drilling, lay length, ratio, temperature class, the approvals your utility requires (MID, OIML R49, ISO 4064 or potable water approvals) and the radio protocol. Note that the North American iPERL+ is documented in US units and standards, separately from the international range.
