The flowIQ 2200 is an ultrasonic smart water meter for residential, multi-unit and commercial connections. The flowIQ 4200 is the bulk water meter, made in five sizes from DN125 to DN300. The MULTICAL 403 is an ultrasonic thermal energy meter that can be supplied as a heat meter, a cooling meter or a combined heat and cooling meter, with a matched pair of temperature sensors and communication modules.

Ordering Kamstrup meters: what we need

Send the type number from the meter front if you are matching installed units. Otherwise give nominal flow and pipe size, connection type and meter length, heat or cooling service, where the flow sensor sits (supply or return pipe), the temperature sensor type and cable length, and the communication you need, for example wired M-Bus or a radio option.

Why do Kamstrup meters use ultrasonic measurement?
The meter sends ultrasonic signals with and against the flow and calculates the velocity from the time difference. There is no impeller or bearing in the water, so nothing wears and particles have little to act on. For the operator this means the measuring accuracy does not drift from mechanical wear over the service life of the meter.
Can the MULTICAL 403 be used for chilled water billing?
Yes, the MULTICAL 403 is offered as a heat meter, a cooling meter or a combined heat and cooling meter. The meter type is fixed in the type number when it is ordered, together with the flow sensor position in the supply or return pipe. State both, since they are part of the meter's approved configuration.
How do I read the type number on a Kamstrup meter?
The type number printed on the front encodes the meter size, connection, length, communication module, supply (battery or mains) and country variant. Meters that look identical can differ in any of these. When you need more of the same unit, copy the complete type number and the configuration number, or send a photo of the front label.
Which communication options should I specify for Kamstrup meters?
It depends on how the meters will be read. Wired M-Bus and Modbus are common for plant rooms and building management systems, and radio options serve drive-by or fixed network reading. Tell us the reading system or the head-end the meters must work with, and we will check the matching module in the Kamstrup documentation.
