Brand:

perma STAR CONTROL Externally Powered Single-Point Lubricator

Description

TIME and IMPULSE mode in a single cable-powered drive

perma STAR CONTROL uses the same electromechanical drive principle as STAR VARIO but takes its power from an external 9 to 30 V DC supply through a cable instead of a battery pack. Two modes are built in: in TIME mode the lubricant discharge follows operating hours, and in IMPULSE mode a precisely defined quantity is dispensed as soon as voltage is applied.

Operating status can be passed to a PLC and evaluated. The drive works with a 60, 120, 250 or 500 cm³ STAR LC cartridge, lubricates independently of temperature and counter pressure up to 7.5 bar, and the mode is selected on the drive itself.

STAR CONTROL versus STAR VARIO

Pick STAR CONTROL when a power supply is available and you want the lubrication tied to machine running time or to a machine signal: IMPULSE mode lubricates only when the machine is energised, so nothing is dispensed while it is idle, and TIME mode keeps a fixed schedule. A fault or status output can feed the plant error-reporting system. Where there is no supply at the lubrication point, the battery-powered STAR VARIO is the alternative.

The table shows where the other perma single-point models sit.

Model Volume Pressure build-up
perma CLASSIC / FUTURA 120 cm³ Max. 4 bar
perma FLEX 60, 125 cm³ Max. 5 bar
perma FLEX PLUS 30, 60, 125 cm³ Max. 5 bar
perma NOVA 65, 125 cm³ Max. 6 bar
perma STAR VARIO 60, 120, 250, 500 cm³ 7.5 bar
perma STAR CONTROL 60, 120, 250, 500 cm³ 7.5 bar
perma ULTRA 500, 1,000 cm³ Up to 50 bar

Installation notes

The Quick Start Guide and installation guide cover wiring and mounting. Mounting outside hazardous areas through remote lines of up to 5 m raises workplace safety, and the manual additional discharge (purge) clears blockages. Always pre-fill the point and line with the same grease as the cartridge. See pumps and lubrication equipment.

How the perma STAR CONTROL works

The perma STAR CONTROL is a single-point lubricator. A gearmotor turns a spindle that moves a piston inside the lubricant cartridge, and the piston pushes grease or oil out through the outlet to one lubrication point. The drive is re-usable, and only the cartridge is exchanged when it is empty. Power comes from a cable carrying 9 to 30 V DC, so no battery pack is needed. The pressure that the piston builds is up to 7.5 bar, which is enough to push lubricant through a short line to the bearing.

Where the perma STAR CONTROL is used

  • Bearings on machines that already have a control cabinet supply
  • Conveyors, fans and pumps that run on a fixed schedule
  • Points that need lubricant only while the machine is energised
  • Points that are hard to reach or unsafe for manual greasing
  • Plants where a lubrication status should be passed to a PLC

Selection checklist for the perma STAR CONTROL

  • Cartridge size: 60, 120, 250 or 500 cm3
  • Lubricant: grease up to NLGI 2 or oil
  • Operating mode, TIME or IMPULSE
  • Supply of 9 to 30 V DC at up to 0.5 A at the lubrication point
  • Ambient temperature from -40 to +60 degrees C
  • Distance to the point, with remote mounting up to 5 m
  • Space for the length of the chosen cartridge
  • Outlet thread of R1/4 outside thread

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Fit the drive to the cartridge and screw the unit to the lubrication point or to the remote line. Connect the cable to the supply and check the polarity. Select TIME or IMPULSE mode on the drive, and set the discharge period with the push button. Use the manual purge to fill the line before the first run. Check the LED and the display after start-up. When the cartridge is empty it can be exchanged while the machine keeps running. For oil-filled units, keep the red oil retaining valve plug in place.

Requesting a quotation for the perma STAR CONTROL

Please send the cartridge size, the lubricant, the operating mode and the supply voltage. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

perma STAR CONTROL operating modes

In TIME mode the discharge follows operating hours. In IMPULSE mode a defined quantity is dispensed as soon as voltage is applied.

perma STAR CONTROL display and protection

The unit has an LCD display with a push button, an all-round LED and PIN protection. The protection class is IP 65.

perma STAR CONTROL cartridge sizes

The diameter is 72 mm. The length is 160 mm with the LC 60, 183 mm with the LC 120, 233 mm with the LC 250 and 329 mm with the LC 500.

perma STAR CONTROL low temperature use

About brand

perma-tec is a German maker of automatic single-point and multi-point lubrication systems, founded in 1934 and based in Euerdorf.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list perma lubricators for maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

perma product series

Chemically driven lubricators include the perma CLASSIC 120 cm³ steel housing unit, the perma FLEX in 60 and 125 cm³ sizes, the perma FLEX PLUS with boost function and the perma NOVA, which compensates for temperature.

Electromechanical lubricators include the perma STAR VARIO, the externally powered perma STAR CONTROL and the high-pressure perma ULTRA with Bluetooth in 500 and 1,000 cm³. Multi-point systems include the perma PRO LINE six-outlet grease system and the perma ECOSY 7-litre oil system.

Chemically driven lubricators such as perma CLASSIC and FLEX use a gas-producing element to set the discharge period, while electromechanical STAR models deliver a set volume independent of temperature and can be monitored. perma PRO LINE and ECOSY supply several points from one reservoir.

Where perma lubricators are used

Bearings of motors, pumps, fans and conveyors, chains, slides and guides, especially hard-to-reach or hazardous points where manual greasing is difficult.
