Brand: Posi Lock
Posi Lock PHA-113IE 25-Ton Internal/External Hydraulic Puller
Description
The Posi Lock PHA-113IE is a 25-ton hydraulic puller that works in both directions: three external jaws pull components off a shaft, and three internal jaws pull parts out of a bore. One tool and one hydraulic cylinder therefore cover outside and inside pulls on the same job.
One 25-ton puller for external and internal pulls
Many maintenance tasks need both kinds of pull: a bearing inner ring comes off the shaft, then a bearing outer ring or seat has to come out of the housing. The PHA-113IE gives the Posi Lock cage design three jaws for each direction, so the crew does not need to stock two separate hydraulic pullers at this capacity.
For internal pulls the jaws are turned inward and grip the inside of the bore; the maker lists a spread of 8 to 21 inches and a 7 inch reach for that mode.

Where it fits and what to confirm
Typical uses include large pump bearing housings, gearbox bores, wheel and sheave hubs and bushings on heavy machinery. With a 12 inch external reach and an optional 20 inch long jaw (part 11354L) it can reach farther along a shaft, and the internal jaws are 25.75 inches long.
The standard external spread is printed on the maker’s page in inches and metric units that do not agree, so we have not repeated that row; please ask us to confirm the external spread range from the drawing before you order. As with every Posi Lock hydraulic puller the hydraulic cylinder, pump, gauge and hoses are separate items rated to 700 bar (10,000 psi), and the accessory item list should be checked for the set you need.
Using the internal jaws safely
Internal pulls load the bore from the inside, so make sure the jaw tips seat on a solid shoulder or ring and that the cylinder is centred on the bore axis before you pressurise. Advance the plunger slowly, watch the gauge, and stop if the load rises without movement. Inspect the cage and both jaw sets for cracks or wear before each use and clean them before storage.
The maker’s warnings also apply here: support the part being pulled, wear eye protection, keep fingers away from pinch points and never exceed the 700 bar system rating.
Selection checks before you order the PHA-113IE
Start by measuring the job rather than the tool. For an external pull, record the outside diameter of the part, the distance from the shaft end to the back face the jaws must grip, and any clearance limits around the hub or housing. For an internal pull, measure the bore diameter, the depth to the shoulder or ring the jaws will seat behind, and the wall thickness of the component. Compare these figures with the reach and spread values in the table above, and remember that the external spread row still needs confirming from the drawing.
Next, look at how the part is held. A press fit that has been in service for years, a part that has corroded onto its seat, or a component that has been heated and cooled many times can need more force than the original fit suggests. If the expected load is close to the 25-ton capacity, discuss the application with your engineer before committing to this size. It also helps to list the hydraulic cylinder, pump, gauge and hoses you already own, since these are separate items and must match the 700 bar rating.
Preparing the work area
Clear space around the machine so the puller can be positioned square to the shaft or bore, and plan where the part will go once it releases. Heavy hubs, sheaves and bearing rings can drop suddenly, so arrange slings, a hoist or blocking before the first stroke. Lock out and tag out the machine, release stored energy in belts, couplings and springs, and remove guards that would obstruct the jaws. Clean the shaft or bore so the jaw tips bite on metal rather than on grease, scale or paint.
Working in Oman and GCC site conditions
Maintenance crews in Oman often carry out pulls outdoors, inside hot pump houses or in plant rooms where the air carries fine sand and dust. Grit that settles on the cage threads, jaw pivots or hydraulic couplings causes wear and can damage seals, so keep couplers capped when hoses are disconnected and wipe the jaws before fitting them. Store the puller in its case or a closed cabinet rather than on an open workbench.
Steel parts left in direct summer sun become very hot to handle, and hydraulic hoses lying on hot ground age faster. Shade the work zone where possible, route hoses away from sharp edges and hot surfaces, and give operators gloves suitable for both heat and pinch hazards. In coastal sites around Muscat, Sohar and Duqm, humid salt air encourages rust on bare steel, so a light protective oil film on the jaws and cage after cleaning is worthwhile before long storage.
Routine care between jobs
After each job, wash off dirt and old grease, dry the parts and check the jaw tips for rounding, chips or cracks. Inspect the cage for bending and make sure the jaws still move freely without binding. Check hoses for cuts, bulges or leaking fittings and replace damaged hoses rather than repairing them. Keep a simple log of each pull, noting the part, the gauge reading at release and any problems, so the maintenance team can spot jobs that are approaching the limits of the tool and plan accordingly.

About brand
Posi Lock Puller is a US maker of gear and bearing pullers, founded in 1978 in Cooperstown, North Dakota, and part of Hydraulic Technologies. Its pullers use a safety cage that holds the jaws on the part.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Posi Lock pullers and tool sets for maintenance workshops in Oman and the GCC.
Posi Lock product series
Hydraulic pullers include the PHA-108 10 ton, PHA-113 25 ton and PHA-116 50 ton three-jaw pullers, the PHA-113IE 25 ton internal and external puller, the PHS-208 two-jaw self-contained puller and the PH-100T 100 ton three-jaw puller.
Manual tools include the 108 17 ton three-jaw gear and bearing puller and the TK-107 4-in-1 internal and external puller set. The AT-1108 Side Align is a horizontal alignment tool set for moving motors and pumps during shaft alignment.
Hydraulic pullers are chosen by the force needed and the reach and spread of the jaws; the self-contained PHS and PHA models have their own pump, and the larger PH-100T is used for heavy couplings and large bearings. The safety cage keeps the jaws from slipping off the part under load, which reduces the risk of injury when pulling seized components.
