Brand:

perma CLASSIC Single-Point Lubricator, 120 cm³ Steel Housing

Description

The classic robust lubricator for harsh sites

perma CLASSIC is the original perma-tec single-point lubricator, invented and patented in 1964 according to the manufacturer history. A 120 cm³ cartridge in a steel housing with an integrated support flange is emptied over 1, 3, 6 or 12 months depending on operating conditions, using an electrochemical reaction in a gas generator.

You activate it once by screwing in the activator until the eyelet comes off. The gas generator then builds up a maximum of 4 bar, which moves the piston and feeds lubricant to the point. Typical uses named by the manufacturer are mining, steel, automotive and mechanical engineering.

CLASSIC or FUTURA, and when to move up

CLASSIC and FUTURA share the same drive: CLASSIC has the steel housing for harsh surroundings, while perma FUTURA has a transparent, corrosion-proof plastic housing (Ø 67 x 111 mm) for hygienic areas and the food industry, where piston position shows the fill level. Both are limited to 0 to +40 °C and 4 bar, with the period fixed at activation. For wider temperature ranges, adjustable periods or higher pressure, move to FLEX, NOVA or the STAR range.

The table shows where the other perma single-point models sit.

Model Volume Pressure build-up
perma CLASSIC / FUTURA 120 cm³ Max. 4 bar
perma FLEX 60, 125 cm³ Max. 5 bar
perma FLEX PLUS 30, 60, 125 cm³ Max. 5 bar
perma NOVA 65, 125 cm³ Max. 6 bar
perma STAR VARIO 60, 120, 250, 500 cm³ 7.5 bar
perma STAR CONTROL 60, 120, 250, 500 cm³ 7.5 bar
perma ULTRA 500, 1,000 cm³ Up to 50 bar

Installation and handling

No special tools are needed for exchange. Prepare the point by cleaning it, removing the grease fitting and fitting the support flange or reducer; pre-fill the point with the same grease. The Quick Start Guide for CLASSIC and the installation guide cover mounting positions. Use the date label to note activation and planned exchange. See pumps and lubrication equipment and the SKF TLSD SYSTEM 24 for an alternative approach.

How the perma CLASSIC works

A single-point lubricator feeds grease or oil to a bearing slowly and steadily, without a person at the machine. In the perma CLASSIC a gas generator is switched on by the activator, an electrochemical reaction makes gas slowly, and the gas pushes a piston in the 120 cm3 cartridge. The pressure builds up to 4 bar at most. The lubricant leaves through the R1/4 outlet thread at a rate set when the unit is activated, over 1, 3, 6 or 12 months at 20 degrees C. The housing is steel with an integrated support flange.

Where the perma CLASSIC is used

  • Mining equipment.
  • Steel plants.
  • Automotive industry.
  • Mechanical engineering.
  • Bearings that are hard to reach or are dangerous to grease by hand.

Selection checklist for the perma CLASSIC

  • Volume of 120 cm3 (4.06 oz).
  • Discharge period of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, fixed at activation.
  • Operating temperature of 0 to +40 degrees C.
  • Maximum pressure of 4 bar (58 psi).
  • Steel housing with a support flange.
  • Outlet thread of R1/4, outside thread.
  • Dimensions of 70 mm diameter and 99 mm height.
  • Grease up to NLGI 2 or oil, with an oil retaining valve for oil units.
  • Explosion-protection markings as printed on the flyer.
  • Activator PA GF.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Fit the lubricator on the lubrication point with the correct adapter and a tight thread. Screw in the activator until the eyelet comes off, which starts the gas generator and sets the discharge period, and write the activation date on the unit. Make sure that the temperature at the point stays between 0 and 40 degrees C, because the discharge time depends on it. Change the unit when it is empty or when the period ends, and check the feed line for leaks at each round.

Requesting a quotation for the perma CLASSIC

Send the lubricant, the period and the number of points. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

CLASSIC or FUTURA

The perma FUTURA has a transparent plastic housing of 67 x 111 mm for hygienic areas, where the position of the piston shows the fill level.

Moving to other models

For wider temperature ranges, adjustable periods or higher pressure, the FLEX, NOVA or STAR ranges are the next step.

History

The manufacturer says that the perma CLASSIC was invented and patented in 1964.

Lubricator records

Record the activation date, the period and the lubrication point of each unit.

Choosing the discharge period

A shorter period of 1 month gives more lubricant per day, and 12 months gives the least. Choose it from the lubricant need of the bearing and the volume of 120 cm3, and keep to the temperature range of the unit.

Handling and storage

Store the new unit as the manufacturer advises and activate it only when it is fitted, because the discharge starts at activation. Dispose of used units according to site rules.

Documents and quotation

The manufacturer flyer for perma CLASSIC (Art. No. 118445) is attached to this page as a download. For a quotation, send the lubricant you want in the cartridge (grease or oil, brand and grade), the cartridge size, the discharge period, the ambient temperature range, the mounting position and whether the point is in a hazardous area. Please confirm the cartridge type and the approval marking against the manufacturer documentation for your exact order code before ordering; the figures on this page are taken from the flyer and are not a substitute for the operating instructions.

About brand

perma-tec is a German maker of automatic single-point and multi-point lubrication systems, founded in 1934 and based in Euerdorf.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list perma lubricators for maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

perma product series

Chemically driven lubricators include the perma CLASSIC 120 cm³ steel housing unit, the perma FLEX in 60 and 125 cm³ sizes, the perma FLEX PLUS with boost function and the perma NOVA, which compensates for temperature.

Electromechanical lubricators include the perma STAR VARIO, the externally powered perma STAR CONTROL and the high-pressure perma ULTRA with Bluetooth in 500 and 1,000 cm³. Multi-point systems include the perma PRO LINE six-outlet grease system and the perma ECOSY 7-litre oil system.

Chemically driven lubricators such as perma CLASSIC and FLEX use a gas-producing element to set the discharge period, while electromechanical STAR models deliver a set volume independent of temperature and can be monitored. perma PRO LINE and ECOSY supply several points from one reservoir.

Where perma lubricators are used

Bearings of motors, pumps, fans and conveyors, chains, slides and guides, especially hard-to-reach or hazardous points where manual greasing is difficult.

Ordering perma lubricators: what we need

Send the model and size, lubricant type and grade, discharge period, ambient temperature, number of points and power supply for electromechanical units.
