EUCHNER CTP-L1-BP-U-HA-AZ-SA Guard Locking Safety Switch

Description

Transponder-coded guard locking for hazardous run-down

The EUCHNER CTP-L1-BP-U-HA-AZ-SA (order no. 166752) is a transponder-coded safety switch with guard locking from the CTP family. It holds a safety door closed until the machine has reached a safe state, for example until a spindle, rotor or press has stopped. The evaluation electronics are integrated, so the switch delivers two monitored semiconductor safety outputs directly to a safety controller or safety relay.

The code letters describe the version: L1 means guard locking by spring force with release by applying power (closed-circuit current principle), and U stands for unicode evaluation, where the switch only accepts the last actuator that was taught in. The actuating head is approached horizontally; in the delivery state, approach directions A, B and C are possible, and the head can be turned in 90° steps.

Connection, diagnostics and series wiring

All signals run through one 8-pin M12 connector: separate 24 V supplies for the electronics and the locking solenoid, the two safety outputs, the door position output and a diagnostic output that can also communicate. In combination with an EUCHNER IO-Link gateway GWY-CB or ESM-CB, the switch can pass status and diagnostic data to the controller. The device has an auxiliary release on the front for opening the door during commissioning or a power failure, secured with a locking screw.

Because the switch uses the closed-circuit current principle, the door stays locked when power is lost. This is the usual choice when an open door during run-down would put a person at risk; check whether an escape release or rescue procedure is needed for walk-in guards.

Selecting actuators and accessories

The actuator is ordered separately. EUCHNER lists straight, bent and hinged CTP/CTA actuators, for example A-C-H-G-SST-126015 (straight) and A-C-H-W-SST-122667 (bent at top). Hinged actuators are offered for left, right, top and bottom hinged doors. Connecting cables with straight or angled M12 8-pin sockets in PUR or PVC are available in lengths of 10, 20 and 30 m. The safety outputs need a free-wheeling diode when switching inductive loads.

About brand
EUCHNER manufactures industrial safety components and systems for machine access and guard monitoring. Its product range includes electromechanical safety switches, transponder-coded devices, guard-locking systems and electronic key systems. These components support applications in automated manufacturing, assembly, material handling and other machine environments. EUCHNER selections depend on the actuator, locking principle, contact arrangement, interface and installation requirements. A switch or actuator is one part of a safety function; the complete system must be designed and validated for its intended application. Frequently Asked Questions

Is the CTP-L1-BP-U-HA-AZ-SA spring-locked or magnet-locked?
It is spring-locked. Guard locking is applied by spring force and released by applying power to the solenoid (closed-circuit current principle).
What is the locking force?
EUCHNER specifies a maximum locking force of 3900 N and FZh of 3000 N, depending on the actuator used.
Is the actuator included?
No actuator is listed in the scope. Choose a straight, bent or hinged CTP/CTA actuator from the EUCHNER accessory list.
What does unicode mean for this switch?
Each actuator is highly coded. The switch only accepts the last actuator that was taught in, which makes defeating the guard more difficult.
Which connector does it use?
A single 8-pin M12 plug connector carries the supplies, safety outputs and monitoring outputs.
