Cummins QSK19-G4 Diesel Generator Engine
Description
Overview
The Cummins QSK19-G4 is an in-line six-cylinder, 19 litre G-Drive diesel engine from the Cummins Quantum series. Cummins describes the QSK19 as using sophisticated electronics and premium engineering to provide outstanding performance, reliability and versatility for standby, prime and continuous power applications. At 1500 rpm the engine is rated 634 kWm gross for standby and 574 kWm for prime, which corresponds to typical generator set outputs of 715 kVA standby and 650 kVA prime.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Cummins QSK19-G4 and its filters, service kits and spares to generator packagers, contractors and facility operators across Oman and the GCC. Customers searching for Cummins engine spare parts in Oman can also contact us for consumables and wear parts for QSK19 sets, backed by sourcing and model selection support in Muscat.
Operating Principle
The Cummins QSK19-G4 is a four-cycle, turbocharged diesel engine. Air is compressed by a Cummins Turbo Technologies HX83 turbocharger, which Cummins says uses exhaust energy with greater efficiency for improved emissions and fuel consumption. The QSK19 requires an air-to-air heat exchanger, or charge air cooler, to reduce intake manifold temperature, so the generator radiator package must include a CAC core alongside the jacket water section.
Fuel is delivered by the Cummins Modular Common Rail System (MCRS). A high-pressure pump feeds a common rail and electronically controlled injectors deliver up to 1600 bar injection pressure, eliminating mechanical linkage adjustments. An electric priming pump integrated with the off-engine stage-1 fuel filter head is controlled and powered by the engine ECM, and the stage-2 filters are mounted on the engine. In general terms, common rail injection allows the timing and quantity of each injection to be set independently of engine speed, which supports good load acceptance on a constant-speed generator.
Engineering Design of the Cummins QSK19-G4
The Cummins QSK19-G4 uses a cast iron six-cylinder block with a 159 mm bore and 159 mm stroke, giving 19 litres of displacement. Ferrous cast ductile iron (FCD) pistons provide a high-strength design for durability. Spin-on fuel filters with water separator and a spin-on full-flow lube oil filter simplify servicing, and the lube oil capacity is 84 litres. The flywheel is SAE 0, the starting system is 24 V negative ground and a 35 A battery charging alternator is fitted.
The 50 Hz specification sheet covers the engine only, without a Cummins Coolpac, so the packager supplies the radiator and charge air cooler and is responsible for limiting ambient and fan power figures. The engine measures 1695 mm long, 985 mm wide and 1723 mm high with a dry weight of 1900 kg. The engine is built to comply with CE certification requirements and is designed and manufactured in ISO 9001 certified facilities.
Key Features
The Cummins QSK19-G4 brings these advantages to generator projects.
- Modular Common Rail fuel system with up to 1600 bar injection pressure gives precise electronic fuel control.
- The HX83 turbocharger uses exhaust energy efficiently for improved emissions and fuel consumption.
- Charge air cooling lowers intake manifold temperature for better combustion.
- Ferrous cast ductile iron pistons provide superior durability.
- An electric fuel priming pump controlled by the ECM simplifies start-up after filter changes.
- One engine covers standby, prime and continuous ratings for typical outputs from 564 kVA to 715 kVA at 50 Hz.
- Integrated electronic controls provide diagnostics for faster troubleshooting.
- Spin-on fuel and oil filters make routine maintenance quick.
Industrial Applications
Generator sets built on the Cummins QSK19-G4 are widely used for standby power in hospitals, hotels, malls, government buildings and data rooms, and for prime and continuous power on construction sites, oil and gas camps, quarries and remote utility schemes. The continuous rating of 500 kWm at 1500 rpm suits sites where the generator is the only source of electricity for long periods, which is common in the interior of Oman and on project sites far from the grid.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Cummins QSK19-G4 to customers in Muscat, Sohar, Duqm, Salalah and the wider GCC, for new generator assembly and for engine replacement in existing sets. We also supply filters and spare parts and provide model selection support from Muscat. Related products include the Cummins QSK60-G4 V16 generator engine, the Cummins C1000D5B 1000 kVA generator set and the Cummins PowerCommand display-control assembly.

Ratings Definitions
Cummins defines Emergency Standby Power (ESP) as power for a varying electrical load for the duration of an interruption of a reliable utility source, in accordance with ISO 8528. Prime Power (PRP) supplies a varying load for unlimited hours, with ten percent overload capability available in accordance with ISO 3046. Base load or Continuous Power (COP) supplies a constant load for unlimited hours. Limited-Time Running Power (LTP) supplies a constant load for limited hours. Matching the Cummins QSK19-G4 rating to the real duty cycle is essential for engine life and warranty.
As general good practice for any large standby engine, regular exercising under load, coolant and fuel quality checks, and replacement of fuel and oil filters at the intervals in the Cummins operation manual help keep the set ready to start when the utility supply fails. Fuel stored for long periods in hot climates should also be tested and polished regularly.

About brand
Diesel power is the first thing associated with Cummins, founded in 1919 and headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, USA. The company builds engines, complete generator sets and the controls and components around them.
Seven Star LLC lists Cummins diesel generator sets, a generator-drive engine and engine and control spare parts, and supplies them to contractors and facility operators in Oman against the model, specification and part numbers on the equipment.
Cummins equipment on this page
The generator sets listed are the C150D5 at 150 kVA, the C275D5 at 275 kVA, a set in the 312/315 kVA class and the C1000D5B at 1000 kVA. In the Cummins naming, the number after C is the nominal kVA rating and D5 marks a diesel set for 50 Hz. The QSK60-G4 is a 16-cylinder engine for generator drive. Spare parts are listed by Cummins part number: head gasket set 4011502, starter motor 3283330, fuel injection pump 3937025 and the PowerCommand display and control assembly 300-6314-01. A generator controller page for auto mains failure duty is also listed.
Where Cummins generator sets are used
Standby power for hospitals, towers, data rooms and pumping stations; prime power on construction camps, remote oilfield sites and quarries; and paralleled sets for larger loads. High ambient temperature and dust are normal design conditions for sets working in the GCC, so cooling package and enclosure choices deserve attention at the inquiry stage.
Ordering Cummins parts: what we need
For engine parts send the engine serial number (ESN) and model from the engine dataplate, together with the part number if you have it. For generator set parts and controls send the genset model, specification letter and serial number from the set nameplate. For a complete set tell us the kVA rating and duty (standby or prime), voltage and frequency, open or enclosed build, the site ambient temperature and altitude, and the transfer switch or paralleling requirement.
