Brand:

Beckhoff LC5100 CANopen Bus Coupler

Description

A CANopen coupler for digital Bus Terminals

The Beckhoff LC5100 connects supported digital Bus Terminals to a CANopen network. The manufacturer specifies 256 digital signals and five receive plus five transmit PDOs. This low-cost coupler does not support analog peripheral signals.

Terminal selection matters. The LC5100 supports bit-oriented digital terminals with the documented exceptions KL15xx, KL25x2, KL2692 and KL27x1. Check the exact terminal list when replacing an installed coupler or extending an I/O station.

Power and terminal-bank planning

The coupler uses a 24 V DC supply with a −15%/+20% tolerance. Its K-bus supply is rated up to 500 mA. Sum the connected terminal requirements before choosing the station arrangement.

A station supports up to 64 terminals; extension to 255 uses the specified KL9020/KL9050 arrangement. These extension components are separate items. The manufacturer lists no electrical isolation between the power supply, fieldbus and power contacts for LC5100.

Replacement enquiries

Send the LC5100 reference, quantity, CANopen controller details and complete terminal list. Include the station layout, supply arrangement and any extension modules.

About brand

Beckhoff builds control systems around the industrial PC instead of a conventional PLC rack. The company was founded in 1980, is based in Verl, Germany, and its Embedded PCs, I/O terminals and TwinCAT software run machines, test rigs and building systems. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Beckhoff controllers and I/O for automation projects and spare part needs in Oman and the GCC.

Beckhoff CX Embedded PCs listed

The CX5140 and CX9020 listed here belong to the CX family of DIN rail controllers. The CX5140 is part of the CX5100 series, which Beckhoff builds with Intel Atom multi-core processors. The CX9020 is described by the manufacturer as a compact, DIN rail-mountable Ethernet control system with an Arm Cortex-A8 processor. On every Embedded PC, Bus Terminals or EtherCAT Terminals attach directly to the right-hand side of the unit.

Ordering Beckhoff controllers: what we need

The order code of a CX has several parts. Send the full string from the side label, for example CX5140-0xxx or CX9020-0xxx, since the last digits set the operating system and the TwinCAT version. Add any factory options such as extra fieldbus or serial interfaces, and the serial number. List the terminals that sit beside the controller if they are being replaced too. For an existing machine, tell us the TwinCAT version in use.
