Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 Rack with cNRTLus Option
Description
Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 3500 system rack, rack mount (19-inch EIA)
The 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 is the rack-mount full-size 3500 rack that carries the cNRTLus Class I Division 2 approval option together with the CE option. It is picked when the rack mounts on EIA rails and the site also needs North American Division 2 marking on the rack.
The Bently Nevada 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 is the 3500/05 System Rack ordered as a 19-inch EIA rack-mount full-size rack. The rack holds the power supplies, the Transient Data Interface and up to 14 monitor, relay, Keyphasor or gateway modules. Seven Star LLC supplies 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 technical and mechanical data
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer / part number | Bently Nevada (Baker Hughes) / 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01 |
| Product | 3500/05 System Rack, full-size |
| Module positions | 14 module slots; the power supplies and the Transient Data Interface occupy the far-left positions |
| Mounting format | Rack mount (19-inch eia). The rack mounts on standard 19-inch EIA rails, so it can sit in an ordinary instrument cabinet next to other 19-inch equipment. Wiring and I/O modules are accessed from the rear. |
| Rack width / height | 482.60 mm (19.00 in) wide; 265.94 mm (10.47 in) high |
| Depth | 349.25 mm (13.75 in); 422.91 mm (16.65 in) when internal barriers are fitted |
| Agency option | cNRTLus (Class I, Division 2) |
| Installed area rating | The rack carries the north american class i, division 2 option; the datasheet lists groups a, b, c, d and t4 at an ambient of -20 to +65 °c when installed per drawing 149243 or 149244 |
| Compliance listed for the family | EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, LV Directive 2014/35/EU (EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-4, EN 61010-1), RoHS 2011/65/EU; DNV GL and ABS maritime classification listed |
| Internal barriers | Racks with internal barriers need the 3500/04-01 Internal Barrier Earthing Module in a dedicated rack position |
| Maximum modules supported | Any combination of monitors, relay, Keyphasor and gateway modules in the 14 slots |
Mounting and installation of 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01
Fit the rack on the EIA rails at the planned height using the rack ears, with the 482.6 mm width and 265.94 mm (10.47 in) height in mind. Allow 349.25 mm of depth for the standard case, or 422.91 mm if internal barriers are used, and leave rear clearance for the I/O modules and cables.
Rack mounting suits the standard marshalling or control cabinets used by turbine and compressor packages, where several 19-inch items share the same frame.
Approval and compliance notes for 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01
The datasheet lists the cNRTLus approval as Class I Zone 2 AEx/Ex nA nC ic IIC T4 Gc and AEx/Ex ec nC ic IIC T4 Gc, plus Class I Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D, T4 at ambient -20 to +65 °C, when installed according to drawing 149243 or 149244. A rack alone does not make a system approved: the modules fitted must also hold approvals, and the final authority is the label on the unit. Check site-specific certificate requirements before purchase.
What goes into the rack
A 3500 rack is a passive backplane frame. The left-most positions are reserved for the 3500/15 power supplies and the 3500/20 or 3500/22M interface module, and the remaining 14 positions take main modules at the front and I/O modules at the rear (above the main module on bulkhead racks). Spares and filler items listed by the manufacturer for the rack are:
- 125388-01 half-height module adapter (internal chassis), 125565-01 card guide, 04300111 screws (qty 3).
- 131150-01 power supply blank front panel; 128085-01 power supply input connector cover; 04310251 screws.
- 130768-01 full-height blank monitor cover kit (130944-01 front panel and 128031-01 I/O cover).
- 131151-01 half-height blank front panel; 00561941 TMR/SIM jumper on the backplane.
- 129766-01 rack installation and maintenance manual and 130432-01 field wiring diagrams.
Selection checklist for 3500/05-01-02-01-00-01
- Check that the area classification in the project documents calls for Class I, Division 2 or Zone 2 equipment, and that the whole rack assembly (modules and I/O) is ordered with matching approval options.
- Confirm the rails and cabinet depth, remembering 349.25 mm normally and 422.91 mm with internal barriers.
- Review the installation drawings referred to by the datasheet (149243 or 149244) when the rack is installed in a classified location.
- Note that module-level approval options are separate: each monitor and I/O module carries its own agency option.
- Retain nameplate photos for the site hazardous-area dossier.

Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
3500 racks protect gas turbines, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, large motors and pumps in oil and gas, power generation, desalination and petrochemical plants in Oman and the GCC. A rack is a long-life item that may stay in service for decades, so replacement racks are usually requested during modernization or when a backplane is damaged. High ambient temperatures, dust and humid coastal air mean the installation location, cabinet ventilation and earthing quality matter as much as the rack itself.

| 990 and 991 | 2-wire transmitters | 4-20 mA vibration (990) and thrust position (991) signals straight into a PLC or DCS, without a monitor rack |
| 1900/65A, 2300 | Compact monitors | Protection for balance-of-plant pumps, fans and motors where a full 3500 rack is not justified |
A proximity probe measures the gap to the shaft, so it sees shaft movement inside a fluid-film bearing directly. A velocity or acceleration sensor sits on the casing and suits rolling-element bearing machines. Critical turbomachinery usually carries two X-Y probes per bearing, two axial probes for thrust position and a Keyphasor probe for speed and phase.
Where Bently Nevada systems are used
In Oman and the GCC, Bently Nevada racks and probes protect gas turbines, compressors and steam turbines in gas processing, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power and desalination plants. Many installations are 3500 racks that have run for years, so most requests are for like-for-like module, probe, extension cable and proximitor replacements, plus upgrades to newer monitors.
Ordering and replacement: what we need
For probes and proximitors, send the full part number with all option digits (for example 330101-00-27-10-02-05). The digits set the probe length, cable length, connector and approvals, and the probe, cable and proximitor must match in total system length. For 3500 modules, send the module and I/O part numbers from the rack and say whether the I/O is internal or external termination, or barrier type. If a module is obsolete, we quote the replacement that Bently Nevada names and point out any configuration or firmware change.
Facts checked against Baker Hughes Bently Nevada pages and published company history, October 2026.
