JUMO dTRANS AS 02 Standard-Signal Transmitter and Controller
Description
A flexible controller for chlorine, level, flow and temperature signals
The JUMO dTRANS AS 02 (type 202553) is a compact modular transmitter and controller that accepts Pt100 or Pt1000, NTC/PTC, resistance transmitters, and standard signals of 0(4) to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V on its main input. Three optional-board slots let you add inputs, relays, analog outputs, a sensor supply or a fieldbus interface without changing the housing.
JUMO lists several typical uses in the data sheet: free and total chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid, chlorine dioxide and ozone with the sensors of data sheet 20263X; pH or redox through a 2-wire digiLine transmitter; hydrostatic level with the transmitters of data sheets 402090 and 404391; flow rate; and two temperature points. It can run as a two-point, three-point, modulating or continuous controller with P, PI, PD or PID action.

Building the order code
Select the basic type 202553/01 (panel case) or 202553/05 (surface-mounted case), then version 8 (factory setting) or 9 (programmed to customer specification), the operating language (01 German, 02 English), the three option slots and the supply voltage. Slot codes are 1 analog input, 2 changeover relay, 3 two NO relays, 4 analog output, 5 two PhotoMOS relays, 6 solid-state relay, 7 DC +/-5 V supply, 8 DC 12 V supply; slot 3 also accepts the interface options 10 (RS422/485), 11 (data logger) and 12 (PROFIBUS-DP). Supply code 23 is 110 to 230 V AC and 25 is 20 to 30 V AC/DC.
The stock version in the data sheet is 202553/01-8-01-4-0-0-23/000, part no. 00550842, with a quoted delivery of three working days. Accessories include a pipe mounting set (00398162), a weather protection roof for the /05 case (00401174) and the PC setup software (00560380); option boards each carry their own part number.
Software functions and where it fits
A math and logic module, a washing timer for cleaning equipment, parameter-set switching and a calibration logbook are part of the controller software, and 1-point and 2-point calibration routines are built in. The conductivity compensation settings (linear 0 to 8 %/K, ASTM D1125-95 and ISO 7888) matter only when the instrument is combined with a conductivity input. For multi-sensor skids, the 96 x 48 mm front and 95 mm depth behind the panel keep the cutout small.
Applications in water treatment and process plants
The dTRANS AS 02 is well suited to the many small analytical and control points found in water and wastewater systems. In Oman and the wider GCC, typical uses include monitoring and controlling free chlorine in potable water distribution and storage tanks, controlling disinfectant dosing in swimming pools and district cooling systems, monitoring chlorine dioxide or ozone in food and beverage plants, measuring tank level through a hydrostatic transmitter, and indicating flow rate on dosing skids. Because one instrument can combine a measured value with temperature or a second input, it can replace a separate indicator and controller on a compact panel.
Key features at a glance
- Universal main input for RTDs, thermistors, resistance transmitters and standard signals.
- Three option slots for extra inputs, relays, analog outputs, sensor supplies or a fieldbus interface.
- Controller modes from simple two-point to continuous PID, suited to dosing pumps and valves.
- Backlit blue graphic display with plain-text menus in 13 languages.
- Built-in calibration routines and calibration logbook for documenting sensor maintenance.
- Panel or surface-mounted case, the latter with an optional weather protection roof.
Installation in hot and humid environments
The rated ambient temperature is -5 to +55 °C. Plant rooms and outdoor panels in Oman can exceed this in summer, so the instrument should be installed in a shaded, ventilated location or in an air-conditioned panel. The surface-mounted case has IP65 protection, but its weather protection roof helps reduce direct sun exposure and rain. For panel versions, the front is IP65 while the rear is IP20, so the enclosure itself must keep dust and moisture away from the terminals. In chlorination rooms, the air can be corrosive; keep cable glands sealed and avoid mounting instruments directly above chemical tanks.
Configuration and maintenance tips
- Choose version 9 if the instrument should arrive programmed to your specification; otherwise version 8 ships with factory settings.
- Use the PC setup software to save the configuration, which makes replacement and commissioning faster.
- Calibrate amperometric chlorine sensors regularly against a reference measurement, and record each calibration in the logbook.
- Use the washing timer where sensors need regular cleaning to reduce drift.
What to include in an RFQ
- Full order code including case, version, language, slot options and supply voltage.
- The measured variable and sensor or transmitter to be connected.
- Required outputs (relays, analog) and any Modbus or PROFIBUS connection.
- Accessories such as the pipe mounting set, weather protection roof or setup software.

About brand
Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.
JUMO product families listed
JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:
- dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
- Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
- digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
- NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
- RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs
Where JUMO sensors are used
JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.
Ordering JUMO parts: what we need
JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
