ABB ACQ580-01-206A-4 Water Drive 110 kW 206 A
Description
110 kW pump drive on frame R7
ACQ580-01-206A-4 is a wall-mounted ABB ACQ580 drive designed for water and wastewater pumping. The catalogue rates it at 110 kW and 206 A in no-overload use on a 400 V network and builds it on frame R7. ABB describes the family for treatment plants, pumping stations, desalination plants, industrial wastewater facilities and irrigation, driving inflow, transfer, dosing, sludge, booster and submersible pumps as well as blowers, mixers and decanter centrifuges. At 110 kW, frame R7, it handles large raw-water and sewage pumps.
ABB has equipped the ACQ580 with pump-specific control: flow and pressure protection against dry running, resonance monitoring, real-time clock scheduling and soft pipe filling to avoid pressure peaks. Browse more sizes in AC drives or read the family overview on the ABB ACQ580 water and wastewater drive page.

Overload data for the ACQ580-01-206A-4
Three ratings are published. Nominal use is 206 A for 110 kW. Light duty is 196 A for 110 kW with 110% overload for one minute in ten (about 215.6 A, derived). Heavy duty is 169 A for 90 kW with 150% for the same minute (about 253.5 A, derived). The maximum output current is 287 A, available for 2 seconds at start. Ratings apply up to +40 degrees C in IP21 or IP55.
Cabinet data from the catalogue: heat dissipation about 2785 W, air flow 450 m3/h and noise up to 67 dBA at full fan speed. Input protection is 500 A IEC (170M5810) or 300 A UL (JJS-300). ABB notes that the heat figure is for thermal design, not for Ecodesign ratings.
Mounting space for the ACQ580-01-206A-4: 284 mm wide, 370 mm deep and 880 mm high in IP21 form, 54 kg. IP55 needs 284 mm by 381 mm, stands 880 mm tall and weighs 56 kg. ABB lists no integrated switch or C1 filter for frames above R5.
The IE5 SynRM guide in the catalogue pairs this type with 90 kW M3BL250SMC4 at 3000 rpm (198 A nominal, motor efficiency 96.4%, package efficiency 93.4%); 90 kW M3BL280SMB4 at 1500 rpm (199 A nominal, motor efficiency 96.5%, package efficiency 93.5%); 90 kW M3BL315SMB4 at 1000 rpm (199 A nominal, motor efficiency 96.8%, package efficiency 93.7%). These are calculated package efficiencies, useful for comparison rather than a commitment for a different motor.
How the code is built
The designation breaks into series ACQ580, construction 01, size 206A and voltage code 4. Without plus codes the drive is IP21 with the ACH-AP-H panel. ABB’s code list includes +J425 for the ACS-AP-I panel, +J424 for a blank cover instead of a panel, +L501 for CMOD-01 (24 V and relay) and +L512 for CHDI-01 (115/230 V inputs).
The basic drive speaks Modbus RTU. Examples of fieldbus options with their MRP codes are PROFIBUS DP FPBA-01 (+K454, 68469325), CANopen FCAN-01 (+K457, 68469376) and Modbus RTU FSCA-01 (+K458, 3AUA0000031336); they install in the first option slot.
Standard features and limits: IE2 efficiency class to IEC 61800-9-2, Safe Torque Off to SIL 3 / PL e, EMC class C2 as standard for ACQ580-01, a C1 option up to 55 kW and a built-in DC or AC choke meeting IEC 61000-3-12.
Source document and RFQ
Values come from ABB’s drives for water and wastewater ACQ580 catalogue (3AUA0000194172, revision I, 27.9.2024), linked on this page. Seven Star LLC supplies the ACQ580-01-206A-4 on request from Muscat; send the pump motor nameplate, supply voltage, enclosure class and fieldbus with your RFQ, and the quotation states availability and lead time.
Confirm before ordering: the full type code with plus options, motor current at your voltage, ambient temperature and altitude, and any ATEX or corrosion requirement.

About brand
ABB is the Swiss-Swedish engineering group for electrification and automation: low voltage drives, motors, circuit breakers and motor control, process instruments and analysers, control systems and robots. It was formed on 5 January 1988 by the merger of two older companies. ASEA was founded in Västerås, Sweden, in 1883 by Ludvig Fredholm to make electric lighting and generators. BBC Brown Boveri was founded in Baden near Zurich in 1891 by Charles E. L. Brown and Walter Boveri. ABB Ltd is incorporated in Switzerland, headquartered in Zurich and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm.

Choosing an ABB drive
ABB's ACS drive codes are easy to read once you know the pattern. In ACS580-01-046A-4, "ACS580" is the drive family, "01" means a wall-mounted single drive, "046A" is the rated output current (about 46 A) and "-4" means a 380–480 V supply. The family is chosen by application: ACS355 for compact machinery, ACS310 for simple pumps and fans, ACS580 as the general-purpose drive, ACQ580 for water and wastewater with pump functions such as pipe fill and dry-run protection, and ACS880 for heavy industrial duty with direct torque control. Size the drive on the motor's full-load current, not only its kW rating, and allow derating for the high ambient temperatures common in Gulf electrical rooms.
Where ABB products are used
In Oman and the GCC, ABB drives and motors run pumps, fans and compressors in water and wastewater plants, district cooling, oil and gas and industry. ABB flowmeters, level instruments and analysers are used in water utilities, power and desalination plants and refineries, and SACE breakers protect switchboards in buildings and plants.
