Graco LubePro A2900 Vertical Air-Operated Grease Pump

Description

The Graco LubePro A2900 is the grease version of the LubePro vertical single-stroke pump. Air pressure drives a piston that pushes a measured shot of grease into the supply line, feeding series progressive or single-line parallel metering devices that lubricate bearings on machinery in a plant.

An air-powered grease pump for centralised bearing lubrication

Bearings fail early when grease is missed, mis-timed or over-applied. A centralised system with an A2900 at its head delivers a defined volume of grease on a timer, so the lubricant reaches every point without a technician walking the line.

The pump has a 29:1 pressure ratio and gives 0.58 cubic inches per stroke. Compressed air makes it easy to install on existing air lines, and the vent built into the pump relieves line pressure automatically on the return stroke.

Selecting reservoir size and variant

The manual lists reservoir sizes of 1 lb, 3 lb and 4 lb. Choose the larger reservoir when the system has many lube points or when refilling is awkward. Versions with a low-level switch send a signal to a PLC or alarm when the grease runs low; the normally open and normally closed versions are separate part numbers.

Use NLGI grades 00, 0, 1 or 2 only. The pump is rated for 125 psi air at the inlet, even though the web page shows a higher figure, and we quote the manual. Fill with the quick coupler, prime the lines, and bleed any air from the feeder lines. A pump that is slow to build pressure usually has air trapped in the system, and the manual includes an air-lock procedure and a troubleshooting table for that case. Use only non-corrosive, non-abrasive lubricants, and follow the pressure relief procedure in the manual before servicing, because high-pressure fluid can pierce the skin.

About brand

Graco designs and manufactures equipment to move, measure, control, dispense and spray fluids, including a long-standing line of lubrication pumps and systems. Seven Star LLC supplies Graco LubePro pumps from Muscat for plants that want to automate bearing and machine lubrication.

Lubrication equipment

Graco has made lubrication equipment since the early decades of the company, and the LubePro range carries that experience into air-operated pumps for grease and oil. Models include single-stroke vertical pumps, a remote-fill oil pump and a reciprocating pump for larger systems, with optional low-level detection. Each manual lists part numbers, reservoir sizes and thread types, so the exact model should be confirmed when an enquiry is made. These pumps feed bearing and machine lubrication points in manufacturing, process and heavy industry.

A fluid handling specialist

Graco was founded in 1926 and is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its products serve industrial, contractor and process markets in more than 100 countries, and manuals for each product are published for installation, repair and parts.
