Brand:

Axiomtek IPC960A Fanless Industrial System

Description

A slim, front-access fanless industrial PC for LGA1700 Core processors

The Axiomtek IPC960A is a fanless industrial system in a narrow vertical chassis, 83.5 mm wide, 192 mm high and 260 mm deep. All connectors are on the front: three video outputs (DVI-D, DisplayPort++ and HDMI), two LAN ports, six USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and the DC and ignition terminals, which makes it simple to install in a cabinet or bookshelf-style rack where only the front is reachable.

It takes LGA1700 14th, 13th and 12th Generation Intel Core processors up to 65 W on the Q670E chipset, with up to 96 GB of DDR5. An optional extension I/O window lets integrators add serial, isolated or cellular modules.

Extension modules and mounting

The extension I/O window is the way to tailor the IPC960A. The datasheet lists AX93511 (four RS-232/422/485 ports), AX93512, AX93516 (isolated serial), AX93519 (LAN, serial and USB), MIO160 (six serial and two isolated CAN ports) and MIO530 (M.2 sockets for 5G or LTE); several are project-based. Mounting kits are a wall bracket, a DIN-rail kit and a bookshelf kit, the last two project-based.

Selection notes

Check that your supply is 18 to 36 VDC rather than the 9 to 36 V of the eBOX family. The order code is for the system with a blank I/O cover, so the processor, memory, storage and modules are specified separately. Compare with the IPC962A and IPC964A if PCIe expansion slots are needed.

How the Axiomtek IPC960A works

An industrial PC is a computer built for long operation in a cabinet or machine. The IPC960A has no fan, so it releases heat through its metal chassis and has no moving parts that wear out or draw in dust. It takes LGA1700 Intel Core processors of the 12th, 13th and 14th generations up to 65 W on the Q670E chipset, with up to 96 GB of DDR5 memory. All connectors are on the front, so the unit can sit in a narrow space where only the front is reachable.

Where the IPC960A is used

  • Machine vision and inspection stations.
  • Edge computing in control cabinets.
  • Data collection and gateways.
  • Vehicle and mobile systems with ignition control.
  • Racks and shelves where only the front is accessible.

Selection checklist for the IPC960A

  • Processor socket LGA1700, up to 65 W.
  • Two DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM slots, up to 96 GB.
  • Network of one 2.5GbE and one GbE port.
  • Three video outputs: DVI-D, DisplayPort++ and HDMI.
  • Six USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and one RS-232/422/485 port.
  • Two 2.5 inch bays with RAID 0/1, and one M.2 Key M slot.
  • Power input of 18 to 36 VDC.
  • Operating range of -20 to +60 degrees C with a wide-temperature SSD.
  • Size of 83.5 x 192 x 260 mm and weight of 4.2 kg.
  • Extension I/O window for added modules.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Mount the system with the wall bracket, the DIN-rail kit or the bookshelf kit, and keep the airflow of 0.7 m/s in mind when the temperature is high. Check that the supply is 18 to 36 VDC, and wire the ignition terminal if the system starts with a vehicle. Install the operating system and the drivers, then set the BIOS options. Keep the cables strain-relieved, because the unit is rated IP40 with cables.

Requesting a quotation for the IPC960A

Send the processor, the memory, the storage and any extension module you need. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

Extension modules

The sheet lists AX93511 with four serial ports, AX93516 with isolated serial, AX93519 with LAN, serial and USB, MIO160 with serial and CAN ports, and MIO530 with M.2 sockets for 5G or LTE.

Shock and vibration

The system is tested to 50 G shock and 3 Grms vibration, and to MIL-STD-810H methods.

Remote management

The GbE port with Intel AMT supports remote management, and a TPM 2.0 chip is fitted.

System records

Record the ordering code, the memory, the storage and the software image of each system.

Choosing the right IPC960A configuration

Pick the processor from the compute load, and remember that a processor of 65 W needs the higher airflow and a lower ambient temperature. Choose the memory for the application, with up to 48 GB per module on the 14th generation. Select storage with the RAID option if two drives are needed, and a wide-temperature SSD for hot cabinets. Check the supply range before ordering, since this system takes 18 to 36 VDC.

Mounting kits

The wall bracket is standard. The DIN-rail kit and the bookshelf kit are project-based options.

About brand

Axiomtek, founded in 1990 and based in New Taipei City, Taiwan, designs embedded systems, edge computing and industrial IoT hardware. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Axiomtek fanless eBOX computers and front-access IPC industrial systems such as the eBOX671B and the IPC980, each with the manufacturer datasheet.

Axiomtek product families

The eBOX line covers compact fanless computers with wide DC input, from small Alder Lake-N units to LGA1700 systems with MXM graphics. The IPC line uses a vertical front-access chassis with optional PCIe slot cages for add-in cards, and one IP67 model with M12 connectors. Operating ranges, power input and I/O differ between models, so the datasheet should be read against the application, for example whether a -40 C rating, ignition control or a given number of serial ports is needed.

Ordering Axiomtek systems

Send the full order code including the suffix, plus the processor, memory, storage and any I/O modules or mounting kits. Most systems in the range are ordered without CPU, memory and drives, so those must be specified separately, and wide-temperature parts are sorted through the manufacturer. The datasheet ordering section also lists mounting kits, adapters and add-on modules for each model.
