Adam Equipment AGB and AGF Stainless Bench and Floor Scales
Description
The Adam AGB 35 is one model of the AGB and AGF family of industrial bench and floor scales, which combine a stainless steel indicator on a column with a die-cast aluminium base and a grade 304 stainless steel pan. Three platform sizes and capacities from 6 kg to 600 kg cover small parts weighing, goods-in checking and heavier floor weighing.
Bench and floor scales for industrial counting and checkweighing
AGB models use pans of 300 x 400 mm and 400 x 500 mm, and the larger AGF models use 600 x 800 mm. The large backlit LCD has 40 mm digits and changes colour to show whether a weight is over, under or within preset limits. Colour-coded keys, a rechargeable internal battery, RS-232 output and external calibration support day-to-day use, while hold, peak hold, net/gross, parts counting with preset samples, percentage weighing and digital filtering for dynamic loads cover most routine tasks.
Models with the M suffix are EC type approved, which Adam states makes them suitable for legal-for-trade applications; the other models are not listed with an approval.

Selecting a model
Choose by capacity and readability: the AGB 35 offers 35 kg at 0.5 g, while the AGF 600 reads to 20 g at 600 kg. The stated linearity is twice the readability on every model, so the usable accuracy of a weighing is wider than the last digit. A 304 stainless pan is easy to clean, but it is not described as a washdown scale; for IP68 washdown protection look at Adam’s Aqua ABW-S range instead.
What to confirm before ordering
Confirm capacity, readability, pan size, whether an EC type-approved M model is required for trade use, accessories such as printers, a relay box or a light tower, and the local mains supply. See also portable test and measurement instruments.
Operating notes: AGB and AGF scales are used for counting with preset sample sizes, percentage weighing and checkweighing against set limits, and the display colour change makes limit checks visible at a glance. Allow the scale to stabilise on a level surface, adjust the rubber feet, and calibrate externally with test weights at the intervals your procedure requires. The scale accepts a printer through RS-232, and Adam lists an ATP thermal printer, an AIP impact printer, a relay box and a light tower with relay kit as accessories for signalling and recording results at a packing or goods-in bench.
Setting up the scale at the workstation
Accurate weighing starts with the location. Place an AGB bench scale on a firm, level table that does not flex or vibrate when people lean on it, and an AGF floor scale on a flat, solid floor away from forklift traffic lanes where it could be struck. Keep the scale away from air-conditioning outlets, open doors and fans, because air currents disturb readings on the finer readability models. Level the base with the rubber feet before the first calibration, and recheck the level whenever the scale is moved.
For floor models handling heavier goods, think about how loads will reach the pan. Items should be placed on the centre of the platform rather than dropped onto one corner, and pallets or crates that overhang the pan can rest partly on the floor and give false readings.
Commissioning, calibration and limits
After the scale has been powered on and allowed to warm up, carry out an external calibration with test weights of suitable class and value, following the procedure in the Adam user manual. Record the result as the first entry in the calibration log. Then set the units, counting sample sizes and checkweighing limits needed for the task, and confirm with operators that the colour indication matches their understanding of under, accept and over. If results are sent to a printer or a PC through RS-232, test the data format with the receiving device before production use.
Where the scale is used for trade, the EC type approved M models are subject to the legal metrology rules that apply at the site, so check local requirements before putting a scale into service.
Using the scales in Oman warehouses and workshops
Many stores, goods-in areas and workshops in the Gulf are not fully air-conditioned, and summer temperatures can approach or exceed the operating range listed in the table. Position the scale in the coolest practical part of the building and out of direct sun through doors or skylights. Dust settling between the pan and the base can affect free movement and readings, so cleaning around the pan should be part of daily housekeeping in sandy locations. In humid coastal areas, wipe the stainless steel parts dry after cleaning.
Battery and routine care
Charge the internal rechargeable battery according to the manual and avoid leaving it fully discharged for long periods. Clean the pan with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, keep liquids away from the indicator, and avoid overloading or shock loading the platform. Recheck accuracy with test weights at the interval your quality procedure sets, and recalibrate if the results fall outside your tolerance.
