Brand:

MP Filtri SFEX In-Line Suction Filter, up to 100 l/min

Description

A suction filter that protects the pump from coarse dirt

The MP Filtri SFEX is a range of in-line suction filters that protect the pump downstream from coarse contamination. They sit below the minimum oil level, directly on the pump suction line, and handle flow rates up to 100 l/min. Female threaded connections go up to 1 1/4 inch and SAE connections up to 1 5/8 inch. Two housing sizes are listed, SFEX 060 and SFEX 110, in two lengths each.

The housing has an aluminium head and a polyamide bowl, and the element has the MYclean interface so that only matching original elements fit. Applications named by the maker are mobile machines and industrial equipment.

Sizing and protecting the pump

A suction filter has very little pressure to spare: pump inlet limits are tight and any added drop reduces the pump life. The catalogue therefore sizes the complete filter at only 0.08 bar. Use coarse wire mesh (250 or 90 micron) for cold starts and high viscosity, and finer media (60 micron mesh or 10 and 25 micron paper) where the oil is thin and clean. A clogged suction element is a pump-starvation risk, so fit a vacuum gauge and watch the reading.

The bypass opens at 0.3 bar on standard versions to prevent starvation if the element blocks; the version without bypass is only for systems where unfiltered oil must never reach the pump and a vacuum switch shuts the machine down.

Keep the suction line short and airtight, because air drawn in at a joint causes noise, cavitation and early pump wear. Mount the filter below the minimum oil level so the element is always flooded, and check the vacuum gauge regularly: a rising vacuum reading is the first sign of a clogging element. The external protective wrap on the element helps the flow through the media and protects it when it is handled during servicing. Replace the element rather than cleaning paper media.

What to confirm before ordering

State the pump flow and oil viscosity at the coldest start, the connection type and size, media and rating, bypass option, seal material and the vacuum gauge or switch. The filter must stay under the minimum oil level. A related spin-on suction option is the MPS in this group, and more units are under filter housings.

About brand

MP Filtri is a family-owned Italian company, founded in 1964 and headquartered in Pessano con Bornago, in the Milan area, that designs hydraulic filters, contamination monitoring systems and power transmission components. Its filters protect pumps, valves and reservoirs in industrial and mobile hydraulic systems.

MP Filtri filter ranges

The catalogue covers high pressure in-line filters, low and medium pressure filters, return and suction filters, spin-on filters, stainless steel and ATEX versions, and high capacity duplex filters. Many housings use the MYclean element interface, which only accepts matching original elements, and clogging indicators, water-removal elements and tank accessories complete the range. Typical duties are pump protection, reservoir return lines, lubrication skids and off-line cleaning of large oil volumes.

Supply from Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, sources MP Filtri housings and elements against the catalogue ordering code and provides the manufacturer documentation with each quotation. Send the model, media, micron rating, connection and indicator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the SFEX do?
It filters the oil on the pump suction line, protecting the pump from coarse contamination. It is mounted below the minimum oil level.
What flow does the SFEX handle?
Up to 100 l/min, with female threaded connections up to 1 1/4 inch or SAE connections up to 1 5/8 inch.
At what pressure does the bypass open?
At 0.3 bar plus or minus 10 percent. A version without a bypass is also listed.
Which media are available?
Wire mesh at 60, 90 and 250 micron and paper at 10 and 25 micron.
How do I see when the element is clogged?
With visual, electrical, axial or radial vacuum gauges fitted to the filter.
