A dual-shaft inline sewage grinder to protect pumps from rags and wipes
The Sulzer Muffin Monster 30004T is an inline sewage grinder that shreds the rags, wipes, plastics and debris that clog pumps and pipes. Its dual-shafted, slow-speed, high-torque design sits in a pipeline, typically on the suction side of a pump, and reduces solids to a size downstream equipment can handle. The 30K Muffin Monster has an easy-to-remove cutter cartridge, Wipes Ready cutters that control both width and length of the output, and Delta P side rails that drive debris into the cutters.

The code is built from product family, grinder family, configuration (new unit, Monster Renew cartridge or unit), cutter stack height and flange size (300 mm stack for 100 to 200 mm flanges, 600 mm stack for 250 and 300 mm), flange type (EN 1092 PN16), cutter material and style, body colour, seal material and drive configuration. Example: Q31K3D1W4SVXXS is a new unit with 300 mm stack, 200 mm flange, 17-tooth Wipes Ready alloy steel cutters and severe-duty seals with Viton gaskets.
Applications and notes
Sulzer names sludge lines, pump stations, private facility discharge to municipal sewer, prison sewage systems and industrial wet-waste maceration. The Monster Renew option replaces a worn cutter cartridge with a factory-built one. Confirm solids content, pipe size, motor protection class and hazardous-area needs with the application; flow rates assume 0 to 2 percent solids. Sulzer ABS Piranha grinder pump series
The Piranha range is split into the S series, which includes the S21, and the PE series with IE3 motors. In front of the impeller sit a spiral bottom plate, a stationary cutter ring and a shredding rotor that cut cloths and plastic before they reach the hydraulics. The bottom plate is adjustable to take up wear. Versions exist for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, three-phase 400 V and single-phase 230 V supplies.
